Im guessing Bristol City

pulled out of two deals, rumoured to have offers for him turned down previously.

    Fair play to them

Lisbie, Maynard, Lee, Counago, Haynes, Clark, Walters. Thats the kind of selection of strikers and squad that can realitically look at top half and higher.

Im begining to think Davey's on borrowed time.

Because after 5 games in which he hadn't scored he was ****.

Plus he was playing up front on his own in a team that had lost all it's confidence.

I think he's done well with what he's got

but the perception was we were going to push on this season and the message from the 'board' was that funds were going to be made available for the kind of quality signings needed to compete and finish in the top half of the table. Thats simply not materialised. 3 out of the 4 signings cost nothing in fees, so was it wind and piss or has someone set Davey up for a fall?

RE: Because our fans put pressure on strikers too quickly

Yes, we've been starved of a decet striker since Shipperley, but a lot of fans don't allow new strikers to settle.

I think managers have to take some responsibility for tactics too... as a recent example, Odejeyi is capable of scoring goals, just not from running one-on-one with a keeper. If you check back to his Cheltenham days he was scoring with his head and also tap-ins. Davey doesn't play to these strengths.

    Yes thats it

Our tactics need to be to give the strikers tap ins.

If only Davey would have thought of that.

Perhaps so, don't think the comments from the board have helped to be fair, just raised expectations

    Exactly

our best 11 are capable of giving anyone a game, but the reality is with injuries, suspensions and loss of form, we're most likely to be fighting relegation again. Maybe the statement was based on selling Howard, which wouldve contradicted other statements (under contract, worth 10 million etc), but more likely the "significant funds" were never available for Davey to spend and that he's expected to work a miracle on a slightly increased budget. Given the Cup money, thats disappointing. Imho, we've stood still whilst clubs around us have strengthened. Spent less than last season yet expected to do better. I honestly believe that its just a matter of time before we're looking for another manager.

What board? PC is the one making the statements. He

was the one who got rid of AR and replaced him with SD cos he didn't think survival was enough. SD's remit is a top half finish for this season and a push towards the play-offs not just survival

He got rid of AR because he refused to strengthen the squad and we were heading for relegation. Where did he say survival wasn't enough?
