Right all you Crofton lot, what was the name of that big private school that used to be at the bottom of the Ashdene estate? Our house backed right onto it and when it became derelict, we took the place over - you could get into the basement if you knew where to look, then up inside to have the run of the whole school. Virtually lived in there in the summer holidays, but I cannot, for the life of me, remember it's bloody name!! I think it's all newbuild homes now.
RE: Before my time you old get nt I knew that. Thought you might have heard tales, though. I think it came down late 70's sometime.
RE: Where exactly was it? nt In that area between Ashdene Avenue, Ashdene Approach, Harrison Rd and **** Lane. I think it was Wakefield Tutorial School, or Browns Tutorial. For ages, they'd just left it completely untouched inside....just locked the doors and fecked off. There were cabinets full of trophies, store-rooms full of, er..., stores. Obviously we left everything where it was

Have you looked on historical maps? Guess it would only say there was a school there anyway rather than its name.
It'd definitely been demolished by the time I was egging windows down there

RE: Have you looked on historical maps? What historical maps might help Micky get some? Cool wonders will never cease!
RE: Have you looked on historical maps? I was at QEGS - we went up St Johns for our bum-fun. Didn't need **** Lane. That was for them chutney-ferrets off Hall Park Avenue.
RE: Crofton Hall ? Try FriendsReunited. nt Friends Reunited?? Blimey, I'm not trying to get in touch with anyone. Didn't go there - it was all school caps and grey shorts all year round. And that was just the teachers.
Sorry ! ! Just thought you might do a search of the schools in the area and recognise the name.
God, you try and help folks ................

Not sure what Ashdene Stores is - there was the parade of shops on Ashdene Approach. They were right next to the school grounds - a ginnel ran from the back of the shops, along the side of the school gym and out onto Ashdene Avenue.
