Why is it so bad latley!? We never hadly sing anymore!! The crowds are getting worse/embarrasing as well! I travel from Hull to every home game/some away games, so if people can't make the effort in there home town what chance has the club got of progressing! It's not real expensive before people say, it's £20 every 2/3 weeks, season passes are great value! Where have these people gone from the premier/millenium season + wembley and cardiff!! 8-9000 is awful! We should at least get 12-14000 home fans every game!! Come on people, really try and get all friends/family to come along, and everyone make some more noise!! I'll await my abuse about people being skint/the football is crap etc (we are winning games and playing well in patches, never will get better with crap crowds!!) what do people spend all there money on, must have some spare cash, try a few less pints etc and support the reds!!
The Booing On Monday I Still Don't Understand At full time we should have been jumping for joy and showing the players how proud they have made us this season. Instead people that were left in the ground decided to either boo or head for the exits. Hardly anyone stayed to applaud the players for a great three days.
RE: The Booing On Monday I Still Don't Understand I think ur wrong dreamboy. I never heard any booing! People were clapping and as the left!
It was because everyone was fecking freezing and we were piss poor and thats it, stop analysing it.Its gone!!!!
Another Reason For The Low Crowds Is Prices As a season ticket holder it works out around 13 quid a game over the season. Yet Bristol City are allowing us to go to their ground for around the same next month. Season tickets should work out around tenner a game and on the day adult prices shouldn't be more than 15 quid anytime (like the Palace match).
RE: It was because I thought we did well considering they didn't play at the weekend!! We got the points, we shouldn't boo a win!!!! We just need to make more noise, sounded bad on tv and I hate seeing a empty stadium!! £20 isn't dear/£22 in the upper tiers! Getting towards £30 at Wolves/Ipswich and the likes!
RE: Another Reason For The Low Crowds Is Prices Don't think the club can afford to take the risk that the crowds will increase by enough of a margin mate.
I agree wholeheartedly with Fraser.... Where are all the 'fringe supporters'? The Leicester game last season drew 'em in so obviously they're on the lookout? Is watching Man Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea on Sky what the potential support/ young uns is about these days by the way?
RE: It was because Whats the relevance of prices elsewhere?
Do you think people might go and watch Ipswich or Wolves if we put our prices up?
Or maybe we could get some fans from those areas if we drop ours?

RE: It was because I'm saying we are cheaper compared to other clubs so people can;t say are prices are to high! I don't like saying all this stuff. I'm just desperate for bigger crowds/better atmosphere. I want this club to do better and a fuller oakwell is brilliant! Ever since we came back up to the championship, I can't believe that we aren't even coming close to filling the east and ponty stands in most of the games! Those 2 stands should be near on full every week with a similar amount in the west I can understand!
Its a poser (here's my view)
Its a good question. How Barnsley fans get be restless at a bad performace after what we've had to watch since 2002, I don't know.
I mean, we've seen some abject **** especially when we went down to League 1. Now we're back where we belong we see a team of players who are relatively disciplined, play well often, win regularly, and still people aren't happy...some people, I hasten to add, not everyone.
We go to Wolves on satdi, where everyone will expect us to lose, so if we do I doubt those people who get on their backs will moan. But if we win and then lose to Watford at home they'll be complaining again. Or will they? Watford are doing well
It just seems to me that some of our fans make their mind up what games we should win well in advance, and show their dissatisfaction when we don't dowell against a side we're "supposed to beat".
Its a long season, a tough season, we'll lose some games we expect to win, and win some (like Southampton) we expect to lose. We'll also winplaying badly and lose playing well.
Maybe its the nature of our fans that they always like to win something. if we're in League 1, we believe (righly IMHO) that we should be higher and get behind em because its achievable. I think most don't expect us to get promoted this year (or from this league gnerally in the near future), so what have we got to play for? For me, if we played at this level for 10 seasons and did OK but didn't get promoted, i'd be happy.
We're at our level right now. One day that may change, but it won't unless we all get behind em no matter what.

heres my view - have realistic expectations well I dont think I would have been the first to say it but its one I subscribe to... a lot of the folk who go now became supporters in the promotion season and subsequent year in the premier league. Consequently their expectations are higher (i.e. want/need/expect tangible success each year) and for a lot of our fans who havent done their apprenticeships watching (old money) third and fourth division pub football, they expect to see football the likes of Arsenal each week last year success was staying up (therefore tangible), this year success could be mid table stability but the start has raised expectations again and therein lies the problem, we are not going to play like Arsenal or even like Barnsley second half against Bristol all the time. Of course we all want to be entertained but more often than not, teams are going to come here and fancy their chances of getting something and are going to work hard to do that so it becomes attritional with us having to grind out results, which is ugly the club has gone a long way down since the 99/00 season but we are starting to feel and look comfortable again. Perhaps bringing in new players this year and spending relatively large sums of money has raised expectations too high but you would have thought that having a couple of seasons in the third division might have made our newer supporters a bit more realistic - obviously not. Reading between the lines of some of SD's comments, he is trying to be realistic but maybe he needs to be explicit and say every now and again LOOK FFS its hard, but we're doing our 'kin best and getting results I'll be disappointed if/when we reach relative safety and dont start playing more expansive and entertaining stuff but for now, we are only about half way there so whilst I am ever hopeful of 90 minutes of pure football, lets be realistic about our collective expectations
