If, according to Pat and Ben, part of the rationale for getting shut of Danny was because attendances were falling (despite it being proved that's not entirely true) then they need to ensure that the next appointment is the right one. Purely and simply because if the new man is a divisive figure it WILL harm attendances and split the fan base. The reaction tonight to the idea that PDC is favourite and heavily linked with the job has already caused a number of threats from people (myself included) that their association with the club is likely to end - whether this be for the short or long term remains to be seen but we all know that once someone stops attending it's harder to get them back.

Grudges were held against Danny for his desertion to Wednesday. I'm not about to debate the right or wrong of that, everyone has a right to their opinion. However, I find it staggering that managers have been mentioned in the last few days and derided for their links to the Sheffield clubs or Leeds and yet a Wednesday hero with facist links is being lauded as potentially the right move.

Truth be told I'm losing faith in the custodians and their associates. I don't think they're fully committed to the plan they keep telling us is in place. I don't think they have the guts to ride out possibly 18 months poor(ish) performances to give someone the chance to overhaul the club. I also don't think they know who is the best man for the job or have an idea of what skills and abilities he needs.

Between the news from tonight's meeting and the PDC rumours I think my bond with the club has suffered.

    You disillusioned Reds.
