He said they have been the worst times when they should have been the best why? Play Off final Ritchie was in charge and the fans were behind him, i understand it for the semi final with Davey in charge and him taking some stick but l dont see why during the promotion season he said these were bad times for him?
Because he doesn't want to be involved in running the club He's saying that despite promotion and a Semi Final in the FA cup he's not happy doing the job, we all knew that. He said from the start he didn't want it. He's bailed us out and now he's being more hands on than he wants to be, presumably because he hasn't found anyone he trusts to do it. He's way too private to be a front man for a football club with all the associated stick that comes with it.
There are only two options to me... Offer shares for sale and form a board of equals or bring in a paid chief executive/chairman who has clear authority to run the club without having to refer back.
Is it though? I'm not sure I paid Chief Exec will have solid business skills but won't necessarily be a football person, least of all a BFC fan. Look what happened with Cryne and Ridsdale, chalk and cheese. Plus it'll cost a lot of money to employ a Chief Exec thats any cop, all out of Cryne's pocket. I can't see Cryne talking that route at all. And finding someone to come in with money is hard. So hence why he's frustrated, he could be doing this for a while.
I've been thinking about this...
...and I can't see the point in saving some money and being so unhappy. If you've made yourself tens of millions what's the point in being miserable in order to hang onto a small portion of it? Also I don't think there's such a shortage of people capable of running a football club properly. Chairmen are trusted with running companies every day and there are plenty of people about with experiencein football.
Of course I know it's easy to spend someone else's money and PC's been extraordinarily generous so far, we all know that and we all owe him our gratitude. It just seems a shame for the guy, having been so successful,to be stuck in a role he hates when there is, what is to him, a very affordable option.

Totally agree Windy i'm baffled we haven't had a chairman over last year like you say there isn't a shortage of people who can do job, but agree with Harrow as well. It can't be a Riddy 2, although his front and PR is second to none, just his finances that he can't do Must be some young apprentice out there who could do it Now there's an idea BARNSLEY FC - THE APPRENTICE YOU'RE FIRED
PC.s comments are at odds with his actions in my opinion. If, for example an owner of a company who does'nt wish to be involved on a day to day basis but, nevertheless does'nt want to see it's demise, then for christ sake, don't go on whinging like PC is doing. Find someone you can trust, a chairman and Board, put them in situ. and take a fooking back seat. It's simple. However, I think this is more about Patrick himself rather than the situation. Perhaps he does'nt feel sufficiently secure to place his interests in the hands of outsiders and as such the reason why a number of personel have left the club over the past couple of years or so. Such an indicisions are , in my opinion, the cause of his unhappiness. For goodness sake Patrick please find someone to take over the reins who is sufficiently trustworthy for you to sit back and relax. If he were to find such a person I'm sure there would be major changes at B.F.C. in a way that is not ditheringly obvious.
Agree with you on that Don't forget, after PRiddy, Pat Cryne had to pump a lot more money into the club to stop us going back into Administration.
RE: Is it though? I'm not sure I agree to a degree. My friend is Chief Executive at a League 2 team, he's a very good businessman and is a football fanatic - although he doesn't support the team he currently works for. But he understands the passion and the desire to improve - but also has a business brain that ensures they don't get into trouble. He's the type of person we'd need. Patrick Cryne would be secure in knowing that the club is being run as a business but that he has someone there who can understand that a football club doesn't necessarily respond as a 'normal' business does. And his salary is covered by all the commercial deals the club does - it doesn't come out of the owners pocket. Just a thought
People were calling for AR's head that season too There were plenty of people that expected nothing less than automatic promotion. That particular season wasn't all sweetness and light.
