Davey: Should I stay or should I go (same source) Written by Mark Stokes on Thursday 7th May 2009

So we are still in the Championship, but Barnsley Football Club's owner Patrick Cryne wants to see what Simon Davey has planned before deciding on his future.
In an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield, Patrick Cryne said, "He has to make a persuasive case to me why he should stay in charge. He then needs to take that case out and explain it to the wider fan-base. I want to hear more about what his plans are for Barnsley Football Club. That will be a key issue in our discussions, and whether he's got that ability to build a rapport with our fans." With the ball firmly back in Simon Davey's we must wait to see what the final outcome will be and how Simon will reach out to the wider fan-base. It is certainly true to say that arguments can be made for either scenario. In the time that Simon Davey has been in charge the likes of Leeds United, Luton Town, Leicester City, Norwich City, Southampton and Charlton have all been relegated, but Patrick Cryne and Barnsley fans want to see more than close escapes. This season if we had not dropped the points we did in the final minutes of the game in the last two months Barnsley would have finished comfortably in mid-table so there is no reason why Simon Davey cannot instill within the team a clearer winning mentality that will see them rise in the table next season. With another season under his belt Davey should have learned enough to be able to convert that into points on the board and build on the squad he has now into one that can challenge higher up the table

He spends a lot of time in his homes abroad due to his health, he has done for a number of years, apparantly the climate is better for him. He didn't sound too good on the radio the other day.
Herein lies the problem.... "In the time that Simon Davey has been in charge the likes of Leeds United, Luton Town, Leicester City, Norwich City, Southampton and Charlton have all been relegated, but Patrick Cryne and Barnsley fans want to see more than close escapes". I think PC and "the wider fan base" are sick to death of hearing how great other clubs are and what a miracle it is that we are in this division from Davey and his acolytes like Knowles and Stokes. Show some belief men, FFS.
