Not posted in ages but can't hold back any longer. Let's face facts. We were not good enough last season, in a very poor division, but got up due to a major stroke of luck. On another day Swansea would have won by several. But you have to take what life throws up and ensure you make the best of it. What do we do? Whether through blind loyalty, pig-headedness, or lack of funds, we stick by a set of players who were decidedly average in the division below. We have an almost ever-present 'striker' who is as poor as any I've seen in my time watching Barnsley (40 years). We do not have a recognised centre-back in our first-team squad. We allow bits of kids to come from Arsenal and gain their experience at our expense whilst older players on our books are deemed to be not good enough (but we keep paying them anyway). We have a manager who, with 8 months of his contract still to run, starts agitating for a new one, despite the fact that the team he manages is on the worst run of results most of us can remember. And we have a chairman who decides that washing dirty linen in public is the right thing to do. I, for one, am greatly unimpressed by recent happenings at Jokewell. I will also find it very difficult to justify my annual shelling out of hard earned funds next July when faced with the prospect of watching alehouse football again next season. My guess is that, given his alleged present problems with the Stock Exchange, Mr Cryne will not be able to ride to our rescue this time. Time for another drink......
Good Post Thoughtfull and incisive . It's a pity that no one will ready your thoughts as the blinkered views on here are akin to the Manager. [d ;Good Luck, you will need it !
