Sounds pretty horrific. Hit a parked bus. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...rgery-training-crash-ineos-grenadiers-cycling
We're in Colombia at the moment. Seeing the driving I'm amazed he'd want to risk being out on a public road at all. Looking very unlikely he'll be able to compete again.
Is it that bad? I saw Dumoulin & his team mate Bouwman had gone there to train & I thought they must be mad
It's absolute carnage mate. The car drivers are bad enough but there are swarms of motor bikes eveywhere and they just constantly undertake, veer in and out, squeeze through disappearing gaps. I believe in this area alone there's one killed every day. We were driving back from town yesterday and there was a girl in a helmet sitting in the inside lane holding her arm while the rest of the traffic just milled around her. There seem to be a fair few cyclists but they must have nerves of steel or a complete lack the ability to risk assess.
Seems crazy that professional cyclists on huge salaries are out there training when they could be training in the Canaries where it’s warm all year round. I get it with Bernal & the other Colombians wanting to be near their families but Dumoulin & others must be mad to do it.
bad injuries from this. Similar to froome's accident hitting a solid object at speed off a TT bike. Be a long recovery if he can get back
I guess it's partly altitude. We've been to Manizales today. A city over 7000 feet up in the Andes but there were lads on bikes riding up the mountains. Bonkers if you ask me.
