Had time to drive home and contemplate ..... I'm a big Dawson fan; he epitomises a spirited Barnsley midfielder to me (and I have seen plenty). For that reason I was gutted his moment of madness has cost us his services for three games. I can't see us making it without him though I sincerely hope we do. It was silly, and although today's game was lost already, the season was still very much alive. It galled me to see people applauding him off. It wasn't big, it wasn't clever and it wasn't "Barnsley bottle". It was daft. Opinions 'n all that, eh ? Was gutted at the game, gutted at the attendance, gutted with Steele and gutted that we were completely and utterly outclassed and belittled. They were first to everything, they wanted it and they outfootballed us completely. I'm a sad man tonight. ** Redstar, completely agree Hill got us in the pickle we are in, Dawson's act today could have been the final act, that's all I was saying **
Re: Had time to drive home and contemplate ..... Dawson should have been booed off not cheered up. Absolutely stunned people cheered him off!!!
Re: Had time to drive home and contemplate ..... The person that "may get us relegated" was managing Rochdale today. Simple as that.
Re: Had time to drive home and contemplate ..... Boo your own player off for making a mistake? Like he's the only player to have made a mistake all season. It was a stupid challenge, but it was made with a determination that Dawson has shown all season, in games that he has helped us win. I wasn't cheering him off, but booing him is ridiculous.
Re: Had time to drive home and contemplate ..... That's because you do not know very much about football. Don't worry, you're not alone.
He shouldn't have been booed nor cheered. But I understand both reactions. When a popular player does something stupid, the reaction will always be confused and contradictory.
Dawson always was one tackle from being a disgrace, you just can't do what he does in the modern game. But hey ho people think he's wonderful.
It wasn't a sending off when the contact was made both his feet were on the floor and the went around the player. I applauded him because he is full blooded granted but he may of made a mistake. I would of hardly said he has sent us down to be fair we haven't had him in the side for the best part of 10 weeks. I will always stick by my players.
We haven't had him for 10 weeks, granted. Its the next 3 he has let us, and himself, down for. I couldn't applaud that.
If we stop up Dawson's probably one of the main reasons for absolutely carrying us from November onwards.
Re: Had time to drive home and contemplate ..... I didn't applaud him off but booing him off would have been a ridiculous reaction to one of our own players. Only a few weeks ago people were talking about him as a possible player of the season and you wanted to boo him off for a moment of madness.
Re: Had time to drive home and contemplate ..... I applauded him because he shouldn't have been sent off - ref was a joke
Re: Had time to drive home and contemplate ..... i cheered them off. not because they played well. they played horribly. but because they need motivation and encouragement. now more than ever.
