Packed up reading it after about the 17th cliche, somewhere in paragraph three. Bloody annoying tripe as you'd expect from the Mail.
I was talking to Times Columnist Dan Hodges yesterday on twitter he reckons Birmingham is in the north. Gotta love a London journalists knowledge of geography
I remember going to Alnwick on a break once, and the locals were arguing that Yorkshire was in the south...
When I lived in Manchester there were arguments about whether Cheshire was in the Midlands or North West. It tended to be that posher people wanted it to be in the Midlands so they weren't associated with Manchester and Liverpool. The really posh ones like Wilmslow thought they were in Surrey which is why they support Man United..
Had an argument in a pub in Ayr about 40 year ago. This woman told me "**** off back home you English ****". I told her off for insulting me by calling me English. I told her that the "English" lived darn sarf and should never be confused with Yorkshiremen. Home Rule for Yorkshire I quipped. She had no answer to that.
If Catalonia get independence Barcelona will have to alternate playing Espanol and Girona week in week out. If we had it we'd have a cracking league. Is it currently 10 league clubs plus York and Halifax? We might even win it now and again.
A Yorkshire Football League, that is a pretty fantasy. We could also compete for Continental honours in the 'Everywhere That Doesn't Say Barrrth Cup'
