We're going to have a lot of managers aren't we if we believe the papers. Barnsley have put Roitherham United's young boss Mark Robins at the top of their short list to replace axed Simon Davey. The Oakwell outfit have admired the work that the former Manchester United striker has done at the cash-strapped League Two outfit and they plan an approach to speak to him. Struggling Barnsley want a young coach who can work under their regime - concentrating on the playing side while they search for their own players at a higher level within the club. Robins could be tempted to leave Millmoor where he kept them up against the odds last season and has already begun this season with a flourish.
Sounds like he'd be working under a Director of Football if we believe that Responsible for playing side only, not transfers. Hope not. No point undermining the new man, whoever he may be.
Recipe for disaster. Let the manager manage ffs.
It'd be nice if we brought someone in with a mind and opinions of their own that they had the confidence to argue for to the 'board'.
Proper concerned they're going to fck this up royally.

At a higher level within the club? PC, Don Rowing and Barry Taylor? Scouting for players? In that case, maybe we should sign the guy from Hearts, he's used to being told who he can play and sign!

Yes Sheriff That's my take aswell. Didn't someone mention yesterday that they'ed heard on Talk Sport that we were going to name a ...Director of Football....
RE: Recipe for disaster. Agreed. The manager needs to manage the whole thing and then if it goes wrong, he takes the blame. It is unfair to sack him, if he is not accountable for all the decisions.
Work under their regime I think is a dead-sert for the new man, working to the same rules that Davey had. And that is the main reason that I think it will not be a... name manager. Why would they risk their reputation with no money and under Barnsley's tumb...The only name maybe would be, for me Boothroyd. And that's only because he's been out of work so long, he may agree just to get back in a job ....Sorry but if not Robins then someone very much like him.... You never know he may tell big club us to get fecked.....Just My Veiw
I dont believe that for one minute point 1 - where have they got that from - not heard anything mentioned from anyone of the club that that is the aim point 2 who would it be - PC doesnt want to be that involved in the day to day running of the club and I wouldnt say there was anyone qualified anyway. point 3 it would cost more to appoint a proper director of football - and in addition a team manager We would be better off just getting Jewell or Curbishley and only having one salary to pay
