no sorry I read it in the Mirror's pull out soccer supplement at my Ma-in-laws this aft. Quite a big article about our relegation, José's sacking ... and the match... just inside the back page. It is in that article that they mention that he is being strongly linked with us... that OFC could mean they read the BBS and are assuming, you know what the gutter press are like .
Must be true if it's in the mirror. Seriously though hope we do make a approach best unemployed manager avalible. And we must still have a large amoun of the 500k gift from Leeds.
I saw an article the other day where he said something on the grounds that he would like to manage again in the premiership but wouldnt be adverse to managing in the championship or even league one given the circumstances....at the time my ears picked up and i thought mmmm wonder if thats us...seeing as it was mid week before we got relegated..
The article says: DOWN...AND BOSS IS OUT. MORAIS SACKED AFTER TYKES ARE RELEGATED. Barnsley boss Jose Morais was sacked after they crashed out of the Championship. The Portuguese and his backroom team all left within minutes and Tykes chief executive Gauthier Ganaye said: " You can say he has been sacked. It is a sad day because we have not been good enough as a Club. The owners took this on as a long term project. We wanted to do it from the Championship but we'll have to do it from League One." Morais who has worked with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Porto got the job three months ago as Paul Heckingbottom's successor. But a run of only three wins from 15 games has not been good enough and the Tykes triggered a relegation clause in Morais' contract to get rid of him. Former Barnsley defender Mick McCarthy could now be the man that the Oakwell Club turn to. They are back in League One after two seasons in the Championship, whilst Derby are again bidding for promotion to the Premier League. The article goes on to say " the Rams took Barnsley apart as sub Vydra won the Championship Golden Boot with his 21 st League goal of the season etc etc. The stats show the following : They had 53% possession we had 47%. They had 5 shots on target we had 3. They had 5 shots off target whilst we had 6. They had 5 corners to our 3. They were caught offside once. We were never offside and they committed 7 fouls to our 8. Card wise they got a single yellow, whilst we picked up two.
Probably the clearest example you'll ever need that stats in isolation are incredibly misleading and liable to lead people to make bad judgement calls. In this instance they give the impression that the game yesterday vaguely resembled a contest. It didn't.
