24hrs ago that article. Not much new has been reported since it broke the compensation clause had been met.

The initial suggestion was it would be 24-48hrs before it was announced, but they have been close with several appointments and haven't got them over the line.

I suspect it will get done, but you never know til it's all official.

The fact that all is deathly silent on our side, kind of let's you assume it's likely to happen

We're probably scratching around for somebody to quote in our press release about him leaving.

There's nobody left to make any statement, just hope the last one out turned all the lights off

We've a lot of directors now, even if Murphy is about to leave or on gardening leave, so there are plenty to make a statement. And I'd suspect the comms team would be in charge of the main copy text before being edited and approved from someone more senior.

I wouldn't expect any form of statement until every is official though. Frankly, if these departures do all pan out, I'd rather the remaining people get replacements as soon as they can and focus on that.

Are you suggesting brevity should be key in any statement? Keeping the word count down?

Not at all. By now the senior management/ownership will likely know who we have to replace and should be concentrating all their energies into that. The comms team can deal with the official announcements, only needing slight guidance on tone and a final sign off.

No reason the comms can't be effusive and lengthy, if they see fit ;-)

According to what I've read WBA are just waiting clearance to finalise the deal from their owner....
If like other deals they failed to secure and it fails to materialise where does that leave big Val...and more importantly where does it leave us.....relationship wise.....knowing your manager wants out

I'd have no problem if it fell through and big Val did the job for us next season. People go for job interviews all the time, doesn't mean you're necessarily unhappy where you are, just that you want to see what other opportunities are out there.

I agree but if you are looking at other jobs you keep it under wraps from your present employer surely

No. I don't believe it to be possible in this case. The release clause would have been ( I assume) , run by the board. Who then sanction discussions.
Didn't stop Stendel mind according to reports. I reckon WBA would have gone about it the right way.

Do you think Stendel had a release clause?

For every failed attempt to lure Big Val away, the Release Clause should be increased by 1 Million GBP.
