http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37082207 **** me. Played in one of my favourite Barnsley games when he was at Ipswich.
******* hell! RIP Dalian I guess you're talking about Currie's debut. Currie 2-3 Atkinson Never seen a match so dominated by the skill of two individuals. It was like there was no one else on the pitch. The pair of them were unplayable that day, like gods amongst us mortals.
What a game that was, back in February 1988. Currie made his debut, after signed for a then club record £150,000. His mercurial skills and two goals were matched by Atkinson's brace, thanks to his pace and power. Ipswich won the game 3-2 and Atkinson was sold to Sheffield Wednesday during the Summer of 1989.
I call ******** on her witness statement. He lived across the road and 10 houses down from her and from her window she could hear the boots landing on him?
Aye that's the one. Still the only game I've ever seen live dominated to such an extent by 2 individuals. Breathtaking. It felt an honour to be there. Sad day.
One of the games that taught me sometimes you can have more enjoyment from losing a game than winning one. Remained my favourite game for years.
No need for taser guns, putting a life at risk to make a job abit easier. Could have used pepper spray surely. If this had happened in America.....
I don't think it's about making their job easier; they do an immensely difficult job dealing with aggression and confrontation regularly. A serving officer was on LBC earlier and he was explaining why a taser is a last resort and he made a lot of sense. He pointed out that in most situations the red dots are enough and the aggressor usually calms down so actually discharging it is relatively rare - deaths from using it are even rarer. When the officer or a member of the public is at risk and warnings are ignored then they have to use them.
I agree. I don't know if she is intentionally lying or just mistaken but I think she is wrong and I think the investigation will prove it.
Well it should be easy to prove or disprove the allegation they used it 4 or 5 times - its hard to see any competent officer using it more than once. also if they were laying into him in the way the witness alleges the Post Mortem should reveal that. - If neither of those observations are proved false we should be able to discard anything else she says. If he really was tasered 5 times and had been kicked repeatedly then some officers should be looking at a manslaughter charge at the very least - but I am skeptical. It would also be helpful to know why he was tasered in the first place there must be a reason as for a group of officers with tasers to be called. None of which takes away the fact that this is a very sad incident and must be devastating for friends and family - and quite probably for the officers involved
If this story (black guy tasered and kicked multiple times by cops resulting in death) was an American story it would be all over the news. Tasers can kill people and when using one on someone you have no idea of the medical history of that person and if they can cope with what you plan to do to them. Just not a fan of this level of force.
As with most of the cases in America he can only blame himself. Even his dad says he was in a blind rage and acting like he was on something. The idiots in America are jumping on a bandwagon without checking the facts first too
Tasers are usually only used when the alternative is a firearm. They can only be used by specially trained officers I dont think any of us are "fans" of their use when there is not a very good reason for this level of force. They can kill but its very rare - and we don't know that the reason he died was the taser anyway - to go into cardiac arrest over an hour later seems a bit strange Currently there isnt clearly a better alternative when people are ignoring police and acting in a threatening way
