... of my first Barnsley home game! 10 years and 10 days today...

That was the infamous relegation game against Norwich of course (I had seen them play a friendly match in Finland before that), but I was still happy to be there that day.
Being a Barnsley fan can be really frustrating sometimes (but occasionally very rewarding too!), but I can't say that I regret <s>any day</s> many days of it. :p

What was everyone else's first Barnsley match?

I can't remember. Wish I could. Think I was about 5 and I can't remember that far back. I asked my dad once (he took me), he said "how the **** am I supposed to remember?" Thanks dad . . .

I also remember my first away. Sheffield Utd 2-2 in cup. My dad had to put his fingers through the fencing at the front of the stand and I laid across his arms so I could see.

Hi Tomi. It's never been easy to be a Reds fan, but the way I see it the bit of success we have every now and then is made all the sweeter because of the other stuff in between!
I count my support back to the first match I can clearly remember - FA Cup Round 5, 18th February 1961, Barnsley 1 (Jackie Lunn) Luton Town 0.
I know I was going before that but hey, 51 years is enough to be going on with!
And my late father was at the match on the day I was born - 22nd March 1952, Barnsley 1 Birmingham City 2. I held on until he had time to get back to the hospital with the result!!

League Division Four December 10th 1977 away at Wimbledon, I was 8. I don't remember much of the game, my dad still has the program. Oh apparently it was a goal less draw :)

That sums up my feelings too pretty well! I've never been too jealous of my Man United (etc) supporting mates - even if Man United win everything that they can win, I don't think that their fans can ever be as happy as I was when we won the play-off final for example.
