In layman's terms what's the difference between techno and tech house?

    I like tech-death but that's quite a bit difference.

    Virtually no difference

House has a recognisable melody, techno more repetitive no vocal. I listen to progressive, big room & trance less so techno.

Thanks for the explanations. Just shows how things sound different to the untrained ear - I couldn't tell much difference between those two whereas you two would pick it apart in seconds.

Theres a significant difference, but I suppose I've been listening to it for 20 odd years and make tracks myself so understand the nuances. If you listen to the Techno track I posted all the way through, you'll probably notice the difference. On a big soundsystem the bass drum beat goes through you, it almost takes over the mids and highs, whereas the tech house its nowhere near as prevalent.

tried to listen to it, techno managed about 20 seconds, tech house did a minute, then realised I am just too fecking old ,it cant be healthy ,it reminded me of the sound the wife makes when she goes off on one, but I switch off and its just noise repeating itself over and over

From here on in, its pretty hard. The sound quality is **** to be fair, some of the mixes sound off when on the original they sound far better. The hosting site only allows low bitrates, for some reason.
