Do you remember when his so-called MySpace profile was posted on here? Well, among others, I didn't believe it was actually him. As I suppose many did, I began to message him with the full expectation of him being a prank. This was during the time when he was struggling to find the back of the net and I made him a proposition (oooer mrs). I said I would pay £10 to charity for every goal he scored in the following game (can't chuffing remember which game it was now). He failed, so I offered to pay £10 per goal again if he scored in the next game. he failed again. I then offered £20 per goal to which he upped the ante. He offered £500 to charity if he hadn't scored by the end of that month. He didn't score and true to his word he sent a cheque for £500 to charity. </p> Say what you like about him, but that to me was commendable and I won't forget that. (worship) (clap) (clap) </p>
Fair enough... But he's still a bone idle, under achiever with an grossly over-inflated view of his own importance...
Agree with that Cazi but still disappointed that he told Laura last week he was staying. http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=75867&mid=481299#M481299
I agree. It's a shame he changed his mind, but if QPR came in with a last minute offer that was long term and big money (and they might have really pushed the boat out) - the bloke has probably done what an awful lot of others would have done, and looked after himself. The money doesn't have to be massive in football terms for it to be extremely substantial in our real world terms - if someone offered you twenty grand a year (a year) more elsewhere, when you were on the verge of extending a contract, you'd have to think about it. I'm not saying that's what the figure was because I don't know - but it wouldn't be impossible for QPR to offer an inprovement on money that is much more substantial than that, if they were so inclined. Lets combine that with the fact that we've recently signed a couple of decent strikers ourselves, and his position in the pecking order doesn't look too clear... he's looked after himself at the end of the day - first team regular football, maybe less pressure, maybe more money. I know it would be nice if players were more loyal these days, but they're just not cut from that cloth any more. As for Nardiello's time at Barnsley - well, like most players, he had his ups and downs. At times he was enigmatic and frustrating, perhaps even lazy - but he came up with big goals in big games, and lifted the tail end of a season like few others. For the goal at Cardiff I am eternally grateful, and also for the goals that helped us to stop up. So all the best Nardi. I know I'll probably take some stick for this posting, but so be it. I can't be dissapointed really - I never genuinely believed he was staying, just surprised that he is going to QPR. All the best lad.
RE: Agree with that Cazi yeah, that's dissapointing. He didn't need to do that - at the time he wrote it he must genuinely have thought he was staying. I hope Laura's not too gutted.
I'd echo that ... Without him we may well have: 1) Not gone up a year ago; 2) Not stayed up this year. He, like any of us, wants to earn the most we can for doing what is effectively the same job. However, the way in which it was done leaves a lot to be desired. Who know's what's happened, has the agent gone back to QPR after the 'agreement' that was reached on Friday and said "Barnsley have offerred this, you've got till Monday to better it" ... or has this improved offer come out of the blue? Oh well, We've still got Ferenczi who perhaps with someone less selfish next to may get a hatful and we'll have to see how the others turned out. I'd sooner have him here than not but given he only plays the last six weeks of the season I won't lose too much sleep, he's far from irreplacable.
RE: Agree with that Cazi Got to say BigLil'' out of everything's been said about him some good A lot bad? (i have my own thoughts) its that he told Laura a complete load of ******** what concerns me most. Oh fook it he's a man not to be trusted were well rid. Tell Laura to turn her eyes to David Beckham'' Hes honest as the day long and everythingy whats going.... (nodding2fingers) .... Nardiello Pffff''''''....
RE: I'd echo that aswell...on both points no1 knows what has gone on behind the scenes and no doubt we will find out his reasons for the u-turn soon. if he was offered more money then you really cant blame the lad for going. any 1 of us would take a job that was offered more money for doing the exact same work. He was probably the most naturally talented goalscorer we had but thats nowt without effort. I for 1 will be grateful for the important goals he has scored (idle hayes aswell) but he has decided his future lies elsewhere. now lets move on and forget him, and give the new strikers a chance and not slag them off before they have even kicked a ball for the club
Hope he takes into account the cost of living is higher in London! Be funny if its summat like £500 more a week but the cost of London life will take care of that
I think it's the way the club have put it... saying he came all the way up, only to turn all the way round and go down to QPR. it makes it sound like he really didn't give a toss about us.
RE: Fair enough... </p> Moot point but....................................' an grossly.....'</p> Nads was a legend during his first game against Blackpool, also during the Play-Off Final.</p> HiS goals at the end of the last season kept us up, especially st Southend.</p> Say what you will. I say THANK YOU DANIEL AND THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE!</p>
I blame Laura , she's a bloody jinx !!! First she has young Scott as her favourite player and he goes to Palace , then she picks Danny and off he goes to QPR ! I've warned her not to select Brian Howard as her next pin up !!!
RE: Fair enough... "HiS goals at the end of the last season kept us up, especially st Southend"... And you edited your post... His goals at the end of the season may well have been a major factor in us winning the relegation battle but, had he pulled his weight in previous games (I will concede he may not have always been fully fit), then there's every chance that we never would've been in that battle. Don't get me wrong - I don't bear him any ill-feeling but for him to piss the club about like that indicates to me an ego of disproportionate size. Extremely talented player but lazy, inconsistent and hardly the biggest loss we've had to endure.
