From what I have heard, the Man Utd coaching team rated him extremely highly. If you want to succeed at THAT level you listen to what the coaches are telling you. They realised that Nads had a lot of skill, technique and an ability to score goals. They also assessed him as not being able to physically out manouevre or out play physically any defenders. They coached him to turn on a sixpence and be a 'fox in the box' predator. They coached him to be aware of the box, to get in positions and to wait for the feeder ball - that was some other player's job - to get the ball to him and then once in the box he would score, turn on a sixpence, finish the job a sas great finisher would. They rated him, coached him to do this as they knew at Man Utd that, although he had so many attributes as a a striker, he would never be able to impose himself physically on other teams. That's where his finishing and coaching came into being. Get him fit, Get him eager Show that you want him (Davey did, fans did on the whole) and he will score He was an enigma waiting to shine, he did shine - in fits and starts , especially at the end of last season but niggling injuries and an ability to stay 'unfit' for long periods of time, ie pulling a hamstring in training or whilst warming up etc shows why the fans eventually gave up on him. He scored some crackers that I'll personally never forget, at times he was awesome. like against Leeds away when he scored 2 and they didn't know what to do with him, at Walsall, the year we went up when his trickery and performance in the box left their players for dead, and at Cardiff in the play offs with his immense free kick when he got us back into the game, what about the one he netted at Udders too that got us to Cardiff in the first place? He scored the only goal against a very determined and very physical Birmingham side - the three points helped keep us up. The relationship he had with the fans ended when he chose to put money before anything else and he signed for QPR when Gordon had a day off work, came into the Office to ensure all was well and the paperwork was in order with instruction sto Rob Knowles to announce on site about the signing when Gordon got THAT phone Call - the rest is history What's the betting he'll pull summat out of the bag against us, that's depending on the fact that he is not injured though! I wouldn't bet on it!
The only time we've seen him work hard Was at the end of the 06/07 season. I know he'd scored some important goals to get us up, but at the end of that season I've never seen him work as hard. Chasing balls down, doing as much as he could to get the ball - it last for a few weeks. IMO he'll never make it. I don't think he's got the hunger - otherwise he'd always play like that.
RE: The only time we've seen him work hard Spot on tt. He simply does not have the hunger - it's not there, you can easily see that.
who would you rather have.... ....a lazy player who can and will score goals at this level, or someone who is physically big and strong couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo... thanks Danny and good luck.....
RE: who would you rather have.... A blend between the two is what we want, is there any like that in this league.
Nardiello an average of 1 goal per 7.71 games Ok thats better than KO but the fact is for a striker, a "fox in the box" it is not good enough. Dowie is an astute manager I think if he had seen something in him then he would still be at Loftus Road instead he will be selling hot dogs on the sea front at Blackpool.
RE: who would you rather have.... Nardiello has had the chance to score goals for us at this level and failed to do so. Apart from one spell a couple of years ago. That does not make you a Championship striker. Why are we still obsessing over the supposedly wasted talent of Nardiello. He doesn't want to succeed so let him rot in the lower leagues. BFC have given him plenty and he's failed as well as turning his back on us for a few dollars more. **** him.
