Possibly makes sense to keep them under contract and essentially put them on garden leave. I’ve said this before, but I stress it’s just a guess - it’s very astute business wise from the club. Essentially we pay them their wages still each month, rather than two lump sums at once. Also means that if someone wants to come in for them, they will have to forfeit their payment. Essentially the coaches are tied in like the players - which means all our players and coaches are classed as saleable assets and have value attached to them. I’ve no idea if this is correct like, but it’s very good business if so. Too many managers and coaches go for very little money compared to players these days.
If I was looking for a job as a manager or coach that would put me off though, knowing it wouldn't be easy to have a clean break.
