(Sorry if already posted|) Basically says he needs to show more belief in his own abilities. Has all the attributes of a modern day footballer, but doesn't put them all together enough.
Of course he might have a bit more belief if he wasnt dropped and disappeared for weeks after he played for us even when he had a good game. If he had been given the chances that some of our team have been given he probably would have more confidence and belief now
To be fair, it sounded like part of an interview where Danny was trying to big him up, and instill a bit of confidence. It was kind of .... "he's a great player, he just needs to believe it more and he'll make a big impact." I think he might play tomorrow.
Hard to tell. I think Flicker was the one who dropped him after a good game, but if reports are to be believed, he has been unavailable for selection on several occasions. Like you suggest, I'd like to see him get a good run in the side, and I think Danny needs to work on instilling that confidence. In my opinion RNL is a better fit into our side than alot of players who've had a very good go at it, including loan players who have been selected in spite of being unfit.
Bang on. He's a really quiet, humble lad is Reuben. Probably shows in his football to be honest. So I agree with Danny that he needs more self belief, and needs to show a more 'nasty' side to his game. But at the same time, we're talking about a lad who's been in and out of the first team for five years under five managers. Often ignored. Sometimes getting a few minutes off the bench. In a variety of roles. That cannot help a lads confidence. I know having spoken to Jacob about similar spells at Oakwell, that being told you're talented but never given a proper run of games doesn't exactly build your confidence. But once he got that run under Robins initially and then more regularly under Keith, he blossomed, grew confident, and we know the rest. Until Reuben gets a prolonged run of successive starts, we'll never see what he's truly capable of. Or not, as the case may be. Here's hoping this is his time, and in May we're talking about him being a key figure in helping us see of relegation. You Reds.
I partly agree with him. RNL needs a manager who will defend him. Someone like a Jose mourinho of the championship to manage him. He's not a confident guy. I've said this a lot. The guy just gets on with things. I would like him to tell the Referee what he thinks of him or go head to head with the opposition. Have a pop at a team mate. He needs some Mongrel in him to use the expression of David Lloyd all winter. Danny Rose as that,
You want him to abuse his teammates, abuse the referee and start a fight with the opposition? So you want him to forget being a footballer and become a horrible dislikable thug?
Well the good news is that Danny has seen it... the proof in the pudding will be if he gets and takes his chance, and if Danny instills that confidence. I got the impression that Danny intends to play him.
Reading Chronicle earlier it was interesting that Hassell said he never wanted to play at left back but Reuben will not say that it seems. He just says, I want to play which is okay but he needs to tell anyone and everyone that he's an attacker. The only thing he hasn't got his lighting pace or he would have it all to play in an attacking position.
That's right, Mr. Versatile would never want to play left back. My head's hurting already. I'm leaving this thread before it ends up messy again.
What's the disagreement here? Seriously, so far as I can see, Hemsworth hasn't posted owt to dispute. Unless I'm missing summat?
He meant Bobby had said in his Chronicle column today, that Reuben didn't like or want to play at left back.
what have I done to upset some now. Some really would be better off READING what I PUT rather than what they think I PUT
I'd love to see Reuben start next season with a more positive attitude. Telling the manager he deserves a place in the side. It's time to give him a long run, build his confidence, and see if he has what it takes. Danny is an ideal guy to do that I see a big future for him and Rose and Digby with Danny at the helm.
