The one individual who had enough goodwill built up in his history at the football club to be afforded patience by the majority of the fanbase to allow the rebuilding process that the Board stated they wanted to take place over a longer period.

I can barely think of anyone else - maybe Redfearn? - whom people will rally behind and keep patience with the inevitable poor results that will happen from time to time if we're serious about rebuilding to be self sufficient and self funding.

This club has made poor strategic decisions for 15 years now, but it's wealthy benefactor has propped it up over that time. If we continue to make poor decisions then we'll end up Stockport County.

You have to remember that the "plan" for bfc is owned by Patrick. When Danny was first appointed I am sure the plan was to save the club from relegation. It didn't happen and I thought Danny has failed they will not retain him. However as we all know they decided he had experience in the first division and maybe the man who could get the club challenging at the top. Patrick will have then set pointers in his plan of where he expects the club to be throughout the season reflecting on the resources he has put in. I think it's obvious to all that Danny was quite a way from delivering what Patrick wants. If Patrick wasn't serious about the club he could have said to Danny "there you go son there's no money just go and enjoy yourself don't worry about the losses, when it's gone it's gone". So any goodwill that Danny should have been shown was shown when he was allowed to continue this season. Can't blame the board because his pedigree says he should have succeeded even in the short term.

The average managerial tenure is 1.8 seasons

straight from League Managers Association. I look at the rosta of the longest serving, and after Wenger and Tisdale there's not many made more than 3 seasons. That Im afraid is the reality of football. And even if we stumble upon a good un, before long he'll be linked with a move upwards, no loyalty in either direction, just gerronwiit.

The target stated by Danny & Ben at the start of the season was the playoffs.

With the virtually totally new squad starting with no preseason this seemed like a big ask.

So it has proved. If Ben is behind signing a lot of the players I think he should be ready to fall on his sword too.
