What on earth is he talking about!

"Being 5-0 down was a conundrum" - From where I was sitting Danny it could've been more.

"The four or five mistakes we've made we've been punished for" - Were you watching the game, there were many more than four or five! mistakes

"Because we don't score at certain times it shouldn't make us vulnerable at the back" - Open your eyes Danny, we're easy to play against. Only this week he talked about working on things and being able to win games in different ways. Can't believe he can't see how easy we make it for the opposition, no physical presence about us, no real pressure (at least any with a real intent) on the ball, rarely getting a foot in. I doubt any of their players got on the bus feeling they'd had a hard game today. The starting point is winning the battle with the bloke your playing against and making sure he knows he's been in a game. We're well short of that.

"I'm quite calm really" - I'm bloody well not. Our goalkeeper isn't good enough, our right back is never a full back (their lad had him on toast today), we've no on-field leadership, we've no physical presence in midfield (interested Berry is getting lots of stick - I don't think he deserves it but he's never going to be a ball-winner) or in attack. And we lack pace (Cole excepted). Does he really not see any of this?

Today wasn't just a bad day at the office, we're a long way short of where we need to be imo.

People jumping off the deep end because we have had one bad game with a new team. Get a grip ffs.

Why am I jumping off the deep end? Simply because I dare to criticise the manager for what I see as obvious problems?

It's not about daring to criticise, it's about being desperate to criticise. We've just gone 5 games unbeaten. We're clearly not as easy to play against as you're making out. We then lose a game and you go bat ****.

We were beaten by a better side today. A team that were every bit as good as any team I saw at Oakwell last season in the Championship. A team that beat Man Utd 4-0. We've a young team that are going to lose some games. At least 3, maybe 4, of the goals we conceded today were due to our youngsters making mistakes. You say they could have scored more, but we could too, we missed just as many, maybe more easy chances as them.

I don't understand why anyone would want to criticise a very young team so much when they've lost just one game of the last six against what is probably the best side in the division.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that I'm "desperate" to criticise? Look back at my previous posts - I'm not habitually negative. And bat ****? I've expressed an opinion - and it's just as valid as yours.

My point is that Danny is culpable at the moment in my opinion. I believe we're short of where we should be because there are fundamental weaknesses in the team. It's the managers responsibility to put those right but the things he's saying suggest he thinks things are ok. I've pointed out in my original post the problems I think we've got, I may not be right - time will tell. And you might not agree with me and I respect your right not to. Nevertheless, I have a right to express an opinion. I'm just as keen to see us do well as you and that's why I want us to address the problems I think we have.

I think some of your points have some validity but are perhaps a little over the top. Every team in this league has weaknesses. Danny has rebuilt an entire team basically over the summer, and is giving those lads the chance. He deserves time to try and get them playing better, more organised, and also to strengthen areas where it shows we're lacking.

I'm mildly concerned that Danny wants a FIFTH striker as his main priority when for me we need a full back, ball winning midfielder and another winger, but we'll see what happens.

And I have a right to disagree with it, which is what I did.

Jay, you just have this knack of calling it bang on. Couldn't agree more fella

Did you notice how knives were out for Davies and then he goes and pulls off two world class saves??

I said exactly same in stands, they looked like a bloody good championship side let alone League 1 side. Some of our fans are such thickos they just can't give credit or accept that an opposition can be better than us. They will win this league I predict. A team that's been 4 / 5 years in the making. We've had 6 games!!!

    Keep the faith.

He forgets the other mistakes that lead to three good saves from Davies. The one that nearly went behind the line, the one he tipped over and the one on one he saved well. On another day we could have lost in double figures.

What would you have said in his situation yesterday then? Of course he knows where things have gone wrong, he just rightly thinks that the right thing to do isn't to go into panic mode in the media and point out deficiencies left right and centre.

Do you think the wisest thing to do for a manager is to come out in the media and criticise players straight away after the match? Tell you this - if I made a habit of publicly criticising people who worked for me in the real world, nobody would want to come and work for me, and in all likelihood they wouldn't put much effort in the future.

And we could easily have been three up before they scored...
