Off to see his stand up show in Glasgow tonight. Never seen any of his stand up, but after Dylan Moran and Jimmy Carr last month he's got a lot to live up to!
Saw him a couple of years ago on his Craic dealer tour. He was ok but not brilliant. Couple of mates were also there that night and thought he was ***** but said teh time before when they saw him that he was brilliant. He got a bit shirty with lack of input from teh audience in the first half, sounds like he may feed off of a bit of banter being thrown at him. Hope you have a good time of it.
I saw Craic dealer and thought it was well below the standard of his previous tour. Plus his background lights were blinding me which didn't help. He does like audience response though, and wrote in his book how is first time in Sheffield was a crap gig basically because people were too quiet. He mentioned on the night though that he hasn't had the same problem since writing that.
Never found him funny on Tv And when he says Err at the end of his so called funny lines really winds me up!
Superb on his day, and revels in crowd interaction. Seen him twice and was aching with laughing both times.
this is always about opinions, but i think Dara is naff on his own as a stand up comic. But he has found his true 'niche' as the host of mock the week, hes funny on that and he always mixes well with all the other guests & regulars. its the same with russell howard, he was funny on mock the week and really is good on his 'good news' show. but hes another waste of space on his own as a stand up comic.
I was pleasantly surprised, he was pretty funny and our lass didn't stop laughing for the whole 2 hours(she's easily pleased, luckily for me). As someone said previously, audience participation is a big part of his show and Glaswegians are never shy at getting involved!
