    being a ref is a thankless task, but there is no excuse for the incompetence that is on show up and down the country every week. we may well be three points better off had it not been for some very poor decisions yesterday and against Ipswich.

    What I didn't understand was why he didn't check with his linesman, there is no way on earth he could have been sure it was a penalty.
