So out of touch with Barnsley it's not funny. Asks if both sets of fans will boo Stones if he plays!!! Then says Parkinson and him are abused because they moved away. Mah mate it's because you're both plastic.
What make's you think he's not at least partly right, Stones ain't going to be flavour of the month with the Everton fans and there's always some muppets that boo ex players at Oakwell. Parkinson probably asks for it, never heard Darren Gough say anything against Barnsley, which given the stick some pilllocks give him shows more restraint than I would have!
He's a bellend mate, listen to his show regular. He's generally out of his depth discussing anything outside of cricket. Plus he threw a tennis ball at me really hard at Primary school because I wasn't listening to him, the jeb.
I stopped listening to the drive time show because of Gough. I really liked him as a cricketer but some of the **** he spouts about BFC is embarrassing as the OP says shows just how out of touch he is.
^^This. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/Andy__White">@Andy__White</a> I'm loved mate,do your homework .</p>— Darren Gough (@DGoughie) <a href="https://twitter.com/DGoughie/status/636569399172927488">August 26, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Goughie once had the great fortune to have a piss next to thereev in the Yates' bogs (the one that used to be next to the Millennium stadium) just before the Play off final against Swansea. Goughie's claim to fame I guess hth
It's not **** in general, it's the stuff specifically about BFC that is annoying and on national radio that is limited to a very few presenters.
There was an Everton fan on earlier. Pretty clued up really and summed it up when he said 'what goes round comes round' as regards a bigger club nabbing talent. The one before him just moaned mind but he was good. Gough likes to come across like he speaks for the average Barnsley fan on the radio- but then, all presenters cultivate a kind of persona- look at Shouty Collymore
I actually like that response. I've known Goughie for a fair number of years, he's a great lad, the vitriol he gets on here is ******* astounding. His brother goes to games, lives in the town and if I were him I'd be ******* mortified to see my brother destroyed on this page for no apparent reason. yes, he used to like Spurs and Glenn Hoddle, so ******* what, he now speaks highly of the town and the club. I don't get the witch hunt.
I once had a piss at the Cruicible and John Parrott walked in and stood beside me for a piss. "Celebrities you've had a piss next to" could be a new thread Reevy.
He's exactly right. The amount of spite he recieves for daring to be successful is astounding. There are some jealous and bitter folk in Barnsley
Hang about. The bloke was making a point on national radio about Barnsley folk, and many disagreed with him. It's hardly a witch hunt is it? He must have known he'd get a reaction, that's what that station is all about. His response? I didn't tweet him, did I? Therefore he's searched his own name on twitter. Bit weird. I've no real general opinion on him, other than I played cricket as a kid for years, and he was probably my cricketing hero (I was a fast bowler). Since he packed in, I've come across him ont radio and found him to be pretty clueless on football in general, never quite understood why they've got a cricketer on talking about football int first place. But so what? He's not alone in that. But occasionally (when it suits) he'll make these sorts of references to Barnsley, and I don't agree with him. He's one of the few Barnsley voices in the media, I'd prefer him to speak highly of us, but that's his prerogative. I don't see that as destroying him, and I certainly don't feel I'd upset his family by merely disagreeing with his opinion, on my twitter account.
Everyone can't like everyone I don't mind goughie but he's not afraid to bandy about words like 'stupid' 'ridiculous' etc in relation to others, so he's always going to polarise views and invite criticism
Pearson and Crowley bigged up and talked up as 'well fancied this season' in relation to league on Talksport
To be fair Whitey you court followers on Twitter, plenty of people who will know Goughie, so don't assume he went looking for your comment. He might have been pointed in the direction. You called him a ******* tail, pretty much what you flounced off about recently. You can't have different rules of engagement. I think that he's right as well as this thread holds true. Much as I said about the Patrick Cryne Facebook thread, I don't quite understand the hysteria in it all, its bonkers. I choose to live my life to the fullest, couldnt give a **** about what people say about Barnsley, the club... owt, its just words and shizzle. I care more about watching than being involved, maybe just me, maybe my age, maybe I'm a lovely person that likes to get trollied with my wife and my mates and wake up happy.
