Just read an interview in Four Four Two magazine, these answers could have been mine:- Worst moment? When Barnsley got relegated to the old Third Division in 2002. We all expected to get relegated from the Premiership: so we just enjoyed it, sang our songs - "Just like watching Brazil" - and knew it would only be for a year. But nobody thought we'd gone down any further and, with all the financial problems as well, we were really struggling. All-time hero? Neil Redfearn is up there; he played really well when we were in the Premiership. But I'd say Ronnie Glavin is my favourite: he was just a top player, and a local hero. All-time villain? Mike Sheron, coz he's the one who took all the money. He wouldn't leave and he left us skint because he was on such big wages. Who do you hate? Phwoar, that's a difficult one. Just for geography, I'd say Sheffield Wednesday. We can't stand them.
remember chatting to Dazzler at chelmsford summer 95, essex versus yorks natwest cup, he was a spurs fan then, he said, and i quote "i'd rather stick pins in my eyes, than go to oakwell" so for me he's just another parkinson !!
RE: remember chatting to Dazzler at chelmsford I went to Priory school with Goughy, he was in the year below me. It was always evident that he'd become a fantastic fast bowler. He summarised for Hallam FM in front of us when we played Man U at home in the FA Cup replay in '98.
what a load of crock... Spurs fan, says it himself in his auto biography... theres even a pic of him in his spurs kit...cites Hoddle as his hero... (blagger)
RE: remember chatting to Dazzler at chelmsford I have posted on here about this before,i have known goughy since first year juniors at st helens, went all the way through school with him,he has always been a spurs fan,Glenn Hoddle was his schoolboy hero. The bit that Matt1575 says about him always bieng a nailed on fantastic fast bowler is ****** though, he was always a better footballer at school and that was his main interest,he was with Barnsley boys all the way through school until they released him, then when he left school he got signed by Rotherham on a YTS contract. It was only after a year of bieng at Rotherham that he knew football wasnt for him, thankfully for him he could play cricket a fair bit,the rest is history.
too right,it was only when Ritchie Richardson, who was Yorkshire's overseas player in '93,took him under his wing that he generated that extra yard of pace, coupled with a bit of swing which made him stand out from the rest of the county bowlers,he was never outstanding at the time Matt1575 mentions, good yes but not fantastic.
