By getting sent off! Bizarre but true. We were 1-0 down and going nowhere, the crowd were on the team and manager's back and it looked like being another fruitless afternoon. Then Moore got his marching orders and suddenly the team woke up, the crowd git behind them and Donny fell apart, particularly Neil Sullivan who had a nightmare. Massive praise to the players for the way they went about their job in the second half. Campbell-Ryce scored an amazing individual goal after receiving the ball well into his own half, while Hume's strike was sheer class. Anderson De Silva really came into his own in the second half, after what was a poor first period by his own high standards. He bossed the midfield on his own for the last twenty minutes. Class. Rigter doesn't look anywhere near fit, but apart from that they all played well. A big praise too for Simon Davey for the tactics employed after the sending off. The obvious tactic was to bring on a defender and while Davey thought about it, he resisted the urge as we needed the goal. The gamble paid off and after we'd taken the lead made the right substitution by bringing on Hassell. Most managers would have sacrificed a forward but Davey did it his way and we got the result. Well done Simon. Donny played some lovely pass and move football in the first half. It was a joy to watch. But they've got such a soft centre and they're really going to struggle. 4 goals, 3 points, onwards and upwards. Well done you reds.
I don't think you've mentioned the best player on the pitch (unless I'm mis-reading which I may be) but I thought Dennis Souza was absolutely immense. Won absolutely everything, threw his body infront of the ball again, and again, and again. He had a dodgy opening 15 minutes but he was superb for me.
Davey will now be forced to play his best back four. Thats the key to this. Hassell, Souza, Foster and Kozluk IS our best back four. We looked so solid once they were re-united and it was a very pleasant sight. Everyone will be a lot happier tonight, and what a goal from Hume to cap it off.
Best back four isnt it amazing everyone has been begging for the formation that we resorted to when Moore was sent off. We are likely to have this as well for the next three games. Thing is will he revert back to Moore in the fourth game? Time will tell
Agree 100% Probably the best comeback, in the circumstances, that I've ever seen from Barnsley. Well done Simon, you got the substitutions spot on.
They all played well (apart from Devaney), but not before Moore got sent off. Donny's confidence disappeared when we equalized. Strange game.
Him and Campbell-Ryce combined brilliantly in the second half. Their energy levels defied belief, and I thought he worked very very hard and showed some of the confidence that I wish he would show more often in having a go at players. He skipped past quite a few players today. Theres no point in him crossing the ball, particularly first half, because Rigters and Hume weren't getting in there anyway.
Donny's confidence disappeared... or Donny ran out of puff? Did they run themselves ragged in the first half?
