I think this fella is being made a scapegoat for our start to the season.Darren Moore has never been the quickest player but fitness, strength and comittment to the cause have gave him a very good career. Its not long back there was a debate saying we needed some body like Moore or Lucketti in the team, well for me we picked the right one.
Someone always gets the brunt of the criticism though from our fans don't they? Last season it was always KO. Plenty more the season before.</p> Can't really see how it can be justified, but there we go</p> </p>
Your spot on mate darren morre has never been quick, and agree with your point about him been a scapegoat, when was last time darren moore won a match though?
Sadly, a lot of people think pace in a footballer is an essential attribute. It isn't, so long as your other attributes make up for it. However, two slow centre backs, our full backs aren't exactly blessed with pace and often we're playing them on the wrong side anyway - asking for trouble.
I thought both goals at Birmingham came from full back errors but the name that came up most on here for being at fault was Darren Moore.
youve to remember derby got promoted with a pairing of big dave and michael johnson n they were both 33 and 34 respectivly and have never had any pace between them.
In my opinion Paul Reid had those qualities too. </p> But that didn't stop him being ****, did it?</p> PS. Those words directly above this isn'tmy view. That is the view of many Barnsley fans.</p>
Sorry he is not the right choice Hard man good in the air strong in the tackle, grant you all them attributes, but, Strikers of any quality, and there are plenty in this league, will leave him for dead. The result we concede too many goals and lose too many matches, which has been the case so far.
Spot on mate. It's like England trying to fit Beckham. Gerrard, Lampard etc into the midfield. You can try and put your 4 best players in but if they are too similar and are played on the wrong part of the pitch it upsets the balance (in our case all our defenders - and I include Foster -have no real pace) - the unit doesn't function correctly. Davey has to take the blame in this respect at least. Other than the penalties, Moore hasn't put a foot/head wrong in the games I have seen.
I think Moore will have a lot to offer us as a squad player, my prefered first choice centre backs would be Souza and Foster, not sure how many promotions Moore has got to his name but these two could learn a lot from him with regards to positioning, communication with each other and maybe getting in the right frame of mind for a game. In all Moore has got a hell of lot more experiance at this leval and higher than even Davey and he could possibly learn from Moore as well if he was willing to listen, maybe learning how better to handle difficult situations with players (which I think we all know is not Daveys strong point), maybe some new ideas in training who knows!!! all in all I think Moore has a lot to offer the club not just on the pitch during the games but for the rest of the week also, he has worked under a lot of good managers and played at a hight level for most of his career, and that my freinds just does not happen if your're ****!!!!!
so all he misses is pace he has all the other attributes but lets get on his back for been slow good thinking!
RE: so all he misses is pace You know and I know that stopping an opposing player getting a run on goal is the reason for a central defender. If, as in Moores case his pace stops him getting there first, then the opposing striker is more likely to score.
Being paid above our so called wage cap...... but l like him, he just needs a decent centre half at the side of him, who has pace and doesn't make school boy errors on a regular basis.
