You know, the one who's trying to privatise our schools and talks with an Scottish/Upper class drawl that noone can stand for more than 37 seconds.

I've got a cracking idea for Liz's anniversary. You know all those millions we've been saving by cutting the NHS budget and making people redundant? Yeah? Well fck them, we'll buy her a new boat! Like a proper one, not a toy un. She'd love it. What d'ya think?

Tory. Fcking. B@stards. £60 million. On a boat.

I wunt buy her a pedalo.

Whilst you're at it, just chuck a few extra million for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
I know grass roots sport is falling apart, and you're having to make folks redundant, get rid of leisure centres, playing fields etc, but that doesn't matter. We need all the money to go on elite performers, and a good show.
An extra 40 million should do it. Everyone loves a good firework display.....

While I agree with you ......another example of squandering the public purse The Millenium Dome... Maddelson's and Prescotts Millennium Dome cost £789 million & roughly £1 million per month to maintain there after before they could give it away for £35 Million - The tories dont have a Monopoly of wasting money .....

To be fair, the Royal Yacht proposal has come from a leaked email from Micheal Gove, as far as I am away it is not government policy nor likely to be and is only the thoughts of 1 person.
As for the opening ceremony of the Olympics. We could argue the whys and wherefores of hosting the games, but the fact is that we are hosting them. Given that, it is a showcase for the country, and the opening ceremony, broadcast around the world....we can use it as an advertisement about all that is great about this country, or we could just buy a pack of sparklers and hope that makes people think they might want to invest.
I've not seen the breakdown in costs, but there are many official sponsors (private companies) that will be putting money into this as well.
Personally, I don't bother watching opening and closing ceremonies but I think this time I will make an exception.

Doesn't it show how cuckoo they are though?

Here's another one for you. The cost of benefit fraud £900 million per annum. The cost of tax avoidance/evasion and tax efficient schemes £29 Billion.

A pack of sparklers is probably appropriate for the greatness of this country atm. But we can pretend I suppose.

I had a look around the old one moored up in Scotland, might fine ship, decked out like something from Downton Abbey, kept expecting some big dressed bint to come swanning past. No place for that to be paid for by tax-payers in this day and age for sure.
