The ultimate hard man of football, who could actually play as well.

RIP Dave. Wouldn't have lasted five minutes on the field today with the interpretation of the rules. To say he loved a tackle is the understatement of the year.

Mentioned at Wembley before the League Cup Final, the Spurs MC was reading out a list of things that encapsulated Spurs and he included the photo of MacKay holding Billy Bremner by the front of his shirt, apparently about to tw@t him. An iconic image, RIP.

Remember seeing him play for Hearts against Partick Thistle at Firhill, it was a comeback match for him after breaking a leg. He went in at tackles with no fear. A lion of a player.

Thank you for your comments. I'm quite proficient at talking gibberish!
The player is a certain Terry Venables, the referee is Norman Burtenshaw (I think!).
