Could never quite fathom how he scored a reasonable number of goals for Notts County. I once wrote an affectionate but sarky article about him. Remember it well. Regis scored and the bloke in front of me in the Ponty announced that "Big Dave must've been eating his magic bananas". It was one of those moments when you crack up laughing and then immediately cringe at yourself for doing so.
