Couple of mates are Carlisle fans and they rated him highly

Didn't his career finish early because of a bad injury?

I've always rated him but the team as done poorly this season

............we cant have another season like this one, which has been a repeat of the last two seasons
I honestly thought at the start of the season we would be top 10 maybe top 6 this season
I thought Davey must know something we dont about the strikers at the club - but no
The inability of the club to sort out the striker situation has let us down again.
But I've already said enough on that one.

Hume was a great signing and to be fair noone could have seen that injury coming

We were let down because our back up strikers were not good enough

    Without repeating myself..................

Most championship clubs set off with at least 4 or 5 strikers to choose from
And so did we, but three of those strikers were Odejayi, Mostto and the unknown Rigters
We knew as fans that Odejayi and Mostto were not up to the task but we hoped that they would come good - but they didn't. And the unknown Rigters didn't work out either.
Which left us with Macken and Hume....... but what happens if one or more of these 2 players get injured or suspended, which unfortunatly happened.

The loss of Howard and the misfiring of the strikers have left us where we are today
We have had match after match where we have been in total control for long periods but have come away as losers because we havent had a single player on the pitch that can score

I said the back up strikers weren't good enough

and I did repeat myself - which sort of agrees with what you said!

RE: Hume was a great signing and to be fair noone could have seen that injury coming

Hume has become a much better striker since his injury than his performances suggested at the time. He was very much a part of the poor run we had at the start of the season, he missed some very easy chances and had some very poor games. He scored 4 good goals, but 4 in 16 is hardly prolific and he looked to be worth no where near what we paid for him.

and what did we pay for him

I dont know and niether do you.

Davey did indicate that the fee may rise to 1.2m but I guess that would depend on apps / goals??

If he got 13 goals or so in a season then I would say 1.2m represented good value in the championship.

The official website made it clear it was £1.2 million

So I'll go with that. Personally I don't think he's worth anywhere near that.

    Did it?

I think Leicester reported the fee at an intial 700k or so with it rising to a max 1.2 depending on add ons, Davey said similar in the press.

Please identify another regular 10+goals championship striker under contract and under 27 that has gone for less than 1.2m

    His 16 games,

I can think of at least 2 or 3 games where he played on the left wing in a 4-5-1 formation.

1.2m does represent decent value for a championship striker. Jeffers 700k??

I agree, I think we paid 500k too much for him, but I am a little confused

because I remember you having an argument saying quite the opposite before his injury. You said that a striker that can pull a goal out of nowhere like he had done a couple of times for us was definetly worth £1.2m

    Not quite the same

Hume hasn't taken 8 penalties a season either nor did he move in the summer in a competative situation.
