Under Simon Davey, Barnsley have won three of nine league games but only one of those was in thje last SEVEN outings. Barnsley have lost FOUR of the last five and FAILED to score in all FOUR defeats. Great criterea for giving this guy his first chance in mamagement , but i suppose he has got to learn somewhere and make his mistakes early, so why not at Barnsleys expense !!!
not true. the first that he knew of any decision to appoint him was after the wednesday game and contract was signed (from what I can make out) after the wolves game.
it was announced to the press before the wednesday game, are you telling me Davey had no idea? anyway regardless of what davey knew the decision to make him boss was made BEFORE the wednesday game afteR he had achived 3 wins and 2 draws in 7 games. THATS WHY HE GOT THE JOB.
the press knew before the wednesday game? they all kept that quiet until the day after the game and the chairman himself said that they informed davey AFTER the game. Thats the same davey that didnt apply for the job. Do you really believe that after the wednesday game when only the board knew who they wanted they couldnt change their mind?
The announcement was made on the Sunday after the Sheff Wed game, which was one of the reasons why it attracted so much criticism.
RE: i think in reality
Maybe he did know?
Maybe he was plotting?
Maybe he was Mr -X- feeding us all that useful inside info?
WHere's Roundsman when you need him

They could've and perhaps should've change their mind. I distinctly rememeber radio 5 live saying 'what a bad start for davey in his first game as full time boss' during the wednesday game.
But he had a dossier on all the players! In any other field of employment they would be called personnel files, most managers have them about their employees.
regardless of when the announcement was made...the decision to make him boss was made before the wednesday game. Do you think a 3-0 defeat at home made them choose davey? They made the choice before hand and stuck with it regardless of the result.
No, it was decided to appoint him on friday before dee daa game, but didnt tell him till sunday mornin. They made their decision and stuck to it
Well, don't deliberate too long
Tim is asking if I am off, as is mad gerrybut I'm temptedto give it a miss and get some points in the bag with our lass.
But if you go she can go ballax and i'll get myself down.

Its a tough one Do I **** the wage bill and get some staff on for tomorrow? Or Do I somehow travel to Southend and just go and get absolutely twitted? Let me make a few phone calls
Have you looked at Ritchies last 7 games in charge. D L L L W L L scored 6 goals in total, 3 in the game we won and 2 in the drawn game, leaving 1 goal in 5 games that we lost. Not so much different from Davey's last 7 but he did take 1 more point. If you want to take the comparison to 9 games you can add 2 more losses and no points to Ritchies record and 2 more wins and 6 points to Daveys. Doesn't look quite so bad in that light does he. If you want to take it a step further and compare against Ritchies first 9 games in this division, Ritchie had 3 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses, again it doesn't look as bad as you paint it.
I see that Shepherd persists in critisising AR's training methods in the Chronicle today,I wonder if he actually read Daveys players appraisals...'Robbie Williams - can play in central midfield'.....that should have told him that this bloke spends too much time on powerpoint presentations and not enough time playing 8 a side training matches with his players
If his player dossier on RW contains any information suggesting that he is capable of playing in midfield or actually sustaining a career in professional football much longer then Davey wants back scuttling with a rusty nail
