Suspect this is a load of rubbish !!!..especially when you look at the demeanour of Pat Cryne What I've seen and heard of PC is of a guy that is very thoughtful and ultra carfull in his decision making The LAST thing I think PC will do this season is sack Simon Davey It was only a few months ago that we were praising PC for giving Simon Davey a 4 year contract In my veiw Simon Davey has done a fantastic job so far He has built a squad from nothing He has brought some exceptional players in on a relative shoe string budget such as Foster, Muller, De Silva, Sousa He has kept us in the Championship while the rebuilding is going on And in the mean time taken us to Wembley in a FA Cup semi-final OK, we all realise this season has got off to a poor start. But everybody is saying the performances are there and they are good If the players had their heads down we may have cause for concern - but they dont Have patience because the wins that we crave for at the moment WILL COME
RE: Suspect this is a load of rubbish !!!..especially when you look at the demeanour of Pat Cryne Spot on.
isnt this what i posted on here before we kicked a ball, that if we had a bad start the anti davey brigade would be out for his head ,thank god we have pc running the club and not some of these off the boards,we will et the results just be paitient
I agree with the Mirror. I posted that my "source" at the club had told me that Davey had six games to prove himself three games ago. Just for the record, I think it would be ridiculous to sack Davey so soon unless we have a better replacement lined up.
Somehow I doubt that the Mirror would be the first place PC would go blabbing to Whilst I cant agree with Nudger that Davey wont get his marching orders if things dont improve - and its even possible that if we are still on 0 points after the blacky game he may be on his way though I think he would be given a bit longer I dont quite see how the Daily Mirror would be taken into confidence by anyone at the club who may know
Common sense tells me that PC is unlikely to sack him before November, regardless of results, as any new manager would be stuck with Davey's squad. I'm still confident that results will improve as we get proper holding midfielders playing. Only time will tell.
Who will score the goals when these midfielders come back? Our current strikers won't This will cost Davey his job!
I think a minimum of 18 games to get things right should be given to Davey. The same number given to Andy Ritchie before he got the boot. Thats generous given Davey has had more money to spend.
Re: good question... but when midfield is more balanced the whole team will be more effective I just hope we can lose the silly mistakes at the back
RE: Suspect this is a load of rubbish !!!..especially when you look at the demeanour of Pat Cryne Agreed Nudge...and even if PC DID want to sack him, he wouldn't make it public
hmmmm Firstly may I say that I don't know Patrick Cryne, so I don't know what he'd do. However, I'm pretty sure other chairmen of football clubs have leaked information that a manager's job could be on the line in order to gauge the opinion of his customers. The decision to keep or sack a manager isn't just a matter of whether it's the right thing to do, there's also the question of whether it's the popular thing to do.
RE: hmmmm True. Just doesn't seem his 'style' based on things he's said in the past. He seems quite keen to be open where possible, though I do see your point about gauging opinion from the fans, though surely there would be better avenues than the Mirror?
I guess I just don't believe the story.
Letting Davey spend £1m plus this summer, giving him a 4 year contract last season and all the good things he has said about him, I just can't imagine him only giving Davey 6 games when 2 of the 3 so far have been away at promotion favourites and we have a lot of players missing. I'm sure, like all of us, he's not happy with our start, but I hope he is prepared to allow Davey more than 3 games to turn it around

It's too early, without question But if we lose the next three games there's going to be a lot of angry Barnsley fans and the pressure on Simon Davey will really begin to build. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
