Davey in loan swoop for Baggies defender

BARNSLEY have signed West Brom left-back Tininho on loan for a month.

He was due at Oakwell today.

The 27-year-old moved to the Hawthorns in the summer from Portuguese club Beira Mar for £230,000.

"He is a footballing left-back who will bring balance to the team. He was signed in the summer from Portugal but can't get a game at West Brom in front of Paul Robinson," Barnsley boss Simon Davey explained.

The 27-year-old was born in Mozambique and has started only two games for West Brom this season.

He will make his Barnsley debut against QPR on Saturday.

Barnsley gave a first appearance to midfielder Diego Leon against Norwich on Saturday.

He came off the bench in the 3-1 defeat, replacing Jamal Campbell-Ryce with just over 15 minutes left.

Norwich hit three second-half goals to become the first team to defeat Barnsley at home since August.

Mark Fotheringham and Dion Dublin struck within five minutes of each other for the visitors.

Said Davey: ""It's disappointing. You look at it and think 'have they crumbled for five minutes?' In my opinion, they did.

"You need leaders on the pitch in those spells. Unfortunately, in that five-minute spell we lost a bit of luck and a bit of belief.

    Fancy That

We are signing a defender for a month, who will miss at least one match when we play his club.
