Davey is clearly a political and economic appointment

He gets on with Shepherd, does what he's told (for now), and he needs a chance in management, therefore he's cheap. I only hope there wasn't any back scene stuff going on before AR was sacked.

The element that's missing is ambition and the vision that goes along with being a 'big club'. I suppose if we want 'big club' we should follow Leeds, Sheff U or W, or in my case Tottenham is my nearest 'big club'. I am personally very disappointed in the board's decision, and I think that JD at least had a vision and a passion for Barnsley, and he wouldn't have made this appointment after yesterday's gutless debacle.

Having said all that, we might be lucky and Davey may have talent that we haven't seen yet. He has to bring in his own people, and I wish him the best of fortune with his signings. He has his work cut out to keep us up, because I am struggling to find three teams less ill equipped than we are.

I accept that, JD wasn't perfect, but how many years did he keep us in this division?
