    Not so sure....

Would like to see Danny's first hundred games vs. Simon's.

No doubt Danny's will be better but by how much?

    A lot I would say

We finished 6th in his first season in charge, 10th in his second and half way through his third we were top of the table which would take him to the 100 games.

Your memory is better than mine.

All I remember is loads of idiots calling for Wilson's head for the first two seasons.

Danny Wilson's record in his first 100 league games was :-
    Played 100, won 40, drew, 30, lost 30.

Davey couldn't hold a candle to Wilson.

But it goes to show how short all our memories are.

To be honest I tend to agree one of Jay's previous posts. The hysteria about sacking Davey 3 weeks ago was wrong but the saviour worship now after a few good results is wrong as well. A bit of long-termism needed, it would be a solution to most of the World's current problems.

    versus 35 - 19 - 45 (99)

So it's only the ratio of draws to loses where the big difference lies.

As I said to me that's not as a big a difference as you might have expected.

But different times and all that.....

Your memory is miles off mate

We very nearly got promoted in his first season in charge. We were up there for all the season and played some excellent football. The few thousand of us who went were right behind him.

Here's the stats for the first 100 games

    Wilson
    W40 D30 L30 Pts150

    Davey
    W35 D19 L45 Pts124

So Wilson was 26 points in front of him. Over two 46 game seasons plus a further 8 matches, that's quite considerable. It's the difference between relegation and midtable, or midtable and the play-offs.

Really - so there were no calls for Wilson's head.

Have to say I didn't make many games but when I did go those chants but me off going more.

    That's my memory too, almost

As I remember he was player manager first, and as a player he had some bad games and he was (rightly in my view) criticised. My personal view is that once he stopped playing his record as a manager was decent to say the least, culminating obviously in promotion. The abuse you are refering to may have been caused by his performances as a player, not as manager.

Still, my recent record of remembering things from past matches is not good, so what do I know?

    Davey's won fewer, drawn fewer

And lost half as many matches again in comparison to Wilson. I'd suggest there's a big difference in the two records. Also, it'd be interesting to know the difference in nett monies spent on transfers between the two.

Chants for his head when we were up in the play-offs

And playing brilliant football? Of course there weren't. I was a season ticket holder in his first season in charge and made many of the away games too and there were never any chants for his head. Why on earth would there have been? Honestly mate, I've no idea where you've got this from.

Maybe you're thinking of the season before when Viv Anderson was in charge and Wilson did receive some abuse for performances which I must admit were way below par.

During his first season as player manager

He won player of the year!

Your memories are for ****, they really are. Sorry for the abuse, but really. That first season when Wilson was in charge was absolutely brilliant.

Wilson spend millions on several players then hardly played them. Now where have I heard that before?

Maybe - certainly went more that season than the Wilson years.

Ah well - that all said - glad to see some of the hysteria has died down over sacking Davey but he is by no means the finished article.
