    Here it is

BARNSLEY say they are not interested in Derek Riordan, the striker Celtic are looking to offload.
Oakwell boss Simon Davey does hope to sign another centre-forward, possibly before Saturday, but reports that he has laid out £800,000 on the 25-year-old are unfounded.

Barnsley were left needing a pre-season pick-me-up last night after a rampant Wigan side slammed in six goals at Oakwell without reply.

Barnsley were second best in almost every department, conceding three goals either side of half-time to the Premier League outfit.

Barnsley were missing only Hugo Colace and goalkeeper Luke Steele of the players likely to start against QPR when the season begins a week on Saturday.

Nineteen-year-old third-choice keeper Kyle Letheren had a rocky first half but recovered and pulled off some good saves after the break. His best came as he denied Dutch winger Daniel de Ridder his hat-trick with a stunning penalty stop.

Striker Jon Macken, partnering Iain Hume, came the closest to scoring, but on another day Wigan could have won by more. They hit the woodwork twice.

Barnsley's final friendly before the season starts is on Saturday when they face Chengu Blades from China.

The Blades, who are linked financially with Sheffield United, suffered their own humiliation earlier in the summer crashing to a 7-0 defeat against Chelsea.

Steele could well be in goal on Saturday'but Colace looks likely to still be under treatment for his hamstring injury.

Former Barnsley hero Daniel Nardiello is set to sign a two-year deal at Blackpool before the end of the week. He is leaving QPR after a year and Blackpool are paying an undisclosed fee for him.

    Nah

We're only interested in players from half way round the world or lower league journeymen.

    thats a shame......

from what ive seen looked like he'd have been a cracking signing, but before we start slagging off lets just see who it is first, but yeah i will be pissed off if its a lower league player or a jonny foriegner

    According to reports

Riordan is a bit lairy. There's no way Davey would have that. He'd fall out with Riordan in the first couple of weeks and he'd never play for us anyway. So we've probably saved ourselves a bit of money there.

    Well he'd struggle

The service the strikers were getting last night was abysmal. Someone like Mifsud wouldn't get a kick, the way things are going at the moment.

not the strikers fault last night, we could of had marlon king up front for us last night but when you put hassell in midfield and expect kozluk to put crosses in then no one will score. i do agree though we really do need a new striker in and in fast because we need more options. In an ideal world 2, a big target man to challenge macken for his place and someone with pace and good goal record.

yes and he's QUALITY, also a natural finisher who has an obvious desire for scoring and the knack to do so..alllof which make him unsuitable for us.. we go with lower league Donkeys that cannot hit a cows arse with a banjo.
