Barnsley manager Simon Davey says some of the fans are not helping the team. A section of the Oakwell crowd turned on the Reds during their 1-0 home defeat to Cardiff on Tuesday night. Davey told BBC Radio Sheffield: "They're entitled to their opinion, as a manager it doesn't help but we're professional and we'll get on with it." The Reds have now lost five of their opening six games but Davey is undeterred: "We'll go about our business like we always do." Barnsley are in the bottom three of the Championship with three points so far this campaign. They also lost 2-0 to Crewe in the Carling Cup to complete their poor set of results at the beginning of the season. he is now talking utter B*ll*cks "we'll go about our business liek we always do, FFS Davey thats all your saying, after every **** performance, i have not been impressed once this season, Perfomance at derby was ****, we got lucky there, i think its time for you to leave now.
"but we're professional" Why mention it then? Why not just admit for once that we were toss and the fans are right to let the players know?
RE: "but we're professional" If anyone heard Blackwell's comments after Sheff Utd nicked a point at home last night you'd realise what a mug Davey takes us for. Blackwell admitted Sheff U were lucky to get a point and said that they had played badly despite getting a man sent off. He said he believed in telling it how it is. If only...
The interviewer started the interview off by saying that sheff utd were poor when was the last time you remember Davey allowing such a comment to be said during an interview with him?
Davey is now responsible for the question put to him. Priceless. You might be agin or for him but don't make him the scape goat for everything that is wrong, right down to the questions inteviewers put to him, otherwise your comments against him will be devalued by any sensible reader of em
Another step towards the sack ................... ............ blaming the fans, that's usually the last straw for most owners/Chairmen. Makes you laugh doesn't it, it's our fault for paying to watch them! The mans pre and post-match comments are regularly becoming an embarrassment. Laughable statement (on Dearne FM) before yesterdays game ........... "no need to panic, Sheffield Wednesday lost the first six games last season and were still ok" Nice benchmark for us that one Simon - they survived on the last day of the season and could have been relegated if results had gone against them ........ for fcuks sake
Where have you been for the last year? You don't think that Davey influences the questions put to him? Ask the ex 1575 guys, ask Radio sheffield, ask Dave Cooper, ask Pele, ask them all. In fact go for it, make a thread on here asking those that have been present at press conferences/interviews whether he influences the questions put to him.
RE: Agreed, those comments won't hep his job prospects Very ill advised. But those in the crowd that boo our own players really aren't helping their club. Maybe they should be sitting in the away end?
I think most people agree that booing doesn't help ....... ..... the team and that's true, but some people take the view (not me, I never boo the players) that they pay out a lot of their hard earned money and want to voice their displeasure if things are not going well - I sort of understand that, even if I do not agree that it's in the best interests of the team/performance at the time
Blackwell gave a tremendous interview... i thought said it how it was, if davey came out and said 'look were on a bad run but were gunna battle like hell to turn it round' a think he'd have a lot more support.
Not if they have been crap, no ............... ........ but there's a difference between booing them during the match and NOT clapping them off or even booing at the end of the match. Booing during the match just drains their confidence even further and they start to run away from the ball or 'hide' so they don't get it, I think once the final whistle goes they are fair game if people wnat to let them know what they think, after all, they are happy to take the plaudits/applause when they win, including Mr Davey, so they can't have it both ways
daveys just fecked off because he cant pull rank and control the fans if he could he would make us go watch the academy like naughty schoolkids. Look at the other people that have got in his way or stood up to him: Andy Johnson Radio Sheffield Nick Colgan Anthony Kay the list goes on..... he wnats the bets of both worlds - everyone to come and watch them but hed like everyone to comply and not interfere. Stinks of someone that cant take criticism at all.
blx. post match I'm sure he has other things on his mind than getting a pre-empted radio sheff q's and then vetting em.
Davey.. We will get on with our Business as proffesionalls do! Yep great Simon, keep the consistency of losing.. just like you do best, please lets get rid of him asap before his damage to our club is irrepairable
You can't say a word against him or any player Even if meant and put constructively. He throws his rattle out of the pram and gets folked sacked for nowt.
Who's professional? There are very few people currently employed at Barnsley Football Club who have anything professional about them. Most of the ones that are are SOME of the players.
