They're down to a shortlist of 5 apparently according to the local press. Thought it was Gus Poyet, Aidy Boothroyd or Gary Speed & then Paulo Sousa emerged as a candidate last night. Came as a surprise to me to see SD linked as 2nd favourite with the bookies - although I think that is just the inevitable "hometown" connection & nothing else. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/swansea-specials/next-permanent-manager Please, please let it be Carlton Palmer though Or John Hartson for that matter.
It isnt going to happen. Like you said it's just the hometown club link and nothing more. Davey's relationship with PC is too good for him to leave IMO. I think he knows that chairman like PC are few and far between.
Those odds are pretty damn short and bookies aren't wrong too often. Maybe they know something or at least we can hope that.
Agreed. Out of that list theres SD, Chris Coleman, John Toshack, John Hughes, Alan Knill & Dean Saunders with swansea connections - I'm assuming Catherine Zeta Jones & Bonnie Tyler are either unavailable or due to appear in I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. Dylan Thomas is dead so not thought to be a strong candidate.
I was surprised to say the least at how short his odds are - considering I've not heard his name mentioned at all. Except on here that is Then again, Paulo Sousa is at 2/5 so would seem to have a shoe-in. Just hope they haven't confused him with Keyser Soze!
Before seeing that i thought Gary Speed had been nailed on for that job If it's Davey i hope decision is made soon like next couple of days as we don't need hassle of trying to find new manager with only few days to start of pre season but we'd get a bit of compo
Think they were put off Speed ...because Sheff Utd wanted £500k compensation for him tbh. Swansea are "thrifty" to say the least and, despite getting compo from Wigan for Martinez & then his assistants, don't see why they have to pay compo to Sheff Utd for Speed. They don't do irony in six-fingerland
I thought that as well ...and had heard similar. Then it turns out Huw Jenkins had a meeting with Sousa in a swansea hotel yesterday which lasted for hours & they both emerged very happy. Wasn't even on the radar prior to that and has since been installed as odds-on favourite. Who knows eh?
id prefer Sousa to take charge of em seems a decent manager. wouldn't mind Davey the Destroyer taking over them either!
I think it's our duty to flood that article with comments praising Davey and pretending to be a Swansea fan.
