I know that a lot of people want to see him go now, and even I'm starting to lose my hope that we can go forward with him as the manager, BUT... ... if he got sacked, then who on earth could we get to replace him?! We've had far too many managers during the last couple of years, and none of them have lasted a single season in the job before the fans have turned against them. Dave Bassett was our last manager with some success and I guess that Andy Ritchie deserves some kind of a special mention too, but that's it. All those managers have had their own weaknesses, and having read posts on this BBS you would think that anyone could do the job better than they did. But then we appoint a new manager and it turns out that he "fails" again and gets sacked in no time. So I think it would be madness to sack Davey now, unless there's already a decent replacement sorted out... But then again, who could that be?
I have Never wanted Wilson back But i would have him back now to replace Davey.yes i think we are that desperate.
Cant say I am that keen on Wilson 3 reasons - one the way he lied to us last time two - almost never does anyone going back work but more importantly three he hasnt exactly set the world on fire since leaving us. I think we need to look forwards not back
He hasn't been that successful since he left Barnsley though (apart from getting Sheff Wed relegated!), so what makes you think that he would be any better? Having said that, I wouldn't mind having him back, but I know that some fans would hate him...
I dont agree with keeping him just for the sake of keeping him He is not doing the job he was brought in to do, he has had a hell of a lot longer than most of the managers at Oakwell and done no better. More players brought in than for a long time and he does not even know how to get them to play like a team. The same excuses after every game and they bear no relation to the match just finished. He had believed his own hype and he thinks he is right about it all. Tactically we are so far away from being a winning side it beggars belief.
Really don't want Wilson back, the pressure on him to succeed would be immense, as soon as we had a couple of defeats the fans would be calling for his head.
RE: Cant say I am that keen on Wilson A couple of things about Danny Wilson, his teams battle and try to play their football on the floor and we played some of the best football seen at Oakwell under him. I'd be over the moon to have him back.
RE: Cant say I am that keen on Wilson Agree with every word.
Can't forgive him for what happened, as a young lad I was absolutely devastated.
You're right too when you say he's not done much (at a decent level) since

Mind you Financially he is doing quite well
Cup run, and avoided relegation twice
Plus decent signings ... in general
With JCR, De Silva and Muller playing it would all be different

I remember once going for a job interview. The job was a step up from anything I had done before. The Managing Director, who was interviewing me made a comment that I remembered and tried to live up to for the rest of my working life. He said and I quote " I don't expect you not to make mistakes but when you make them, I expect two things from you. 1) don't repeat them, 2) learn from them". What a pity Davey hasn't been able to do either of those things.
bloody hell......... im not that keen as having him as manager but move on we all make mistakes, his club is sheffield wednesday thats why he went, anybody would have done the same, im sure if you asked danny, he'd say he went about it the wrong way, but we all make mistakes
