Pros Kept us up.... just Seems to have fetched some good staff in Seems to learn from his mistakes, and learned that he wasnt learning from them fast enough at first Got a lot of ambition Looks like he takes no **** - a disciplinarian Made sure we won the games we really really needed to Eventually played the right players Not afraid to shake it up Not afraid to give a bit of spin in the media to go in our favour ( a la v Southend) Where did he get the contacts for the Hungarians!!??? Cons Meddled with the team far too much when he first came in Signed players no better or worse than what we had - Mattis, Jones, Eckersley Dropped better players to try and play his own players which cost us POINTS Persisted with the poor players for too long Puts the team performance at risk for his own gratification - eg. publicly humiliating and dropping Kay Inexperienced Doesnt really tell it as it is - often attempts to gloss over a shitty performance with blatant rubbish VERY Negative tactics All in all im still undecided but im willing to give him while xmas to prove me wrong. He is yet to win me over even after keeping us up. I strongly diagree with the way he has dealed with Kay and in my eyes its just his spin to get him out of the club without no backlash. Well if what i reckon is true then hes just a bit of a coward. He is SO for not airing the clubs news in public - eg. contracts, but yet comes out with a headline story on the website that Kay has broked the clubs drinking policy. Fine, him, drop him or whatever is required - but there was no need for that story. The fans would not have been any wiser if Atkinson had played. It would have been puty down to blooding the youngsters. I see Davey didnt come out with all this earlier in the season. He couldnt wait to humiliate him. Leaves a bad taste. I think Kay is one of the players to have made the step up and we would have to pay a decent whack to replace him. It look slike Davey wants him out so he can fetch someone like Wallwork in. I wasnt going to buy a season ticket if he was still in charge next season (i said that not long after he took over). The simple fact we have stayed up and he deserves a clean slate at the beginning of next season may be enough to get me to buy. I would also like to see who we are going to fetch in - but like always i will probably just get one anyway. I just hope it aint another season of some of the rubbish we have had to endure since Andy Ritchie left. I was gutted when he left even though he wouldnt fetch in the players required - but who do you believe these days!???? Its interesting to note we finished the season with almost the same team we started. The differences are: out: Mcindoe Hayes In: Kyel Ried Istvan McCann Nyatanga, Peter and Eckersley also played their parts. Ritchie wasnt far off was he?? I wonder how much Mattis, Jones, McCann, Eckersley, Wallwork, Reid, Peter have cost us - espess the likes of mattis who just aint good enough. Probably not as much as going down so i'll say no more. Lets just hope Davey keeps improving and looks up instead of down for players.
Exactly (or near enough) to what i was saying The team was virtually the same as Ritchies. The few signings he made barely played. Noticed one thing though is that we either won or we lost never seemed to draw under Davey. If Ritchie was saying he wasnt bringing in players because he couldnt find them for the money he had then that seems to have been supported by the lack of decent signings Davey has made. Barring Ferenczi who failed to score in his last 8 games and a couple of loanees, as you said the team was virtually the same. Doesnt that tell anyone anything?
