we all moan about Davey's tactics, formations, etc. But what would you do and who would you play where given the chance of being the manager? and most importantly, why?

I bet most of us agree on the same sort of similar formation/players

id go for:

Muller
obvious choice, but i could be tempted to give Steele a go. after all, he's not done anything wrong has he.

Hassel (RB)
Foster
Moore
Kozluk (LB)
Lets face it, this is our strongest back 4. Van Hobo, El Hamlet, etc. don't cut it, and on their day these players are some of our best.

Hammill (RW)
Anderson
Andranik
JCR (LW, yes, wing!)
This could be (IMO) our best midfield, although at least in this department we could chop and change with Devaney & Colace being decent back up (shame we don't have decent backup for defence and up front)

Mifsud
Bogdanovic
now up front is a problem... not our strongest department yet our most important. i have gone for these 2 as i believe they will do the business.
i can only say though, that it is slightly annoying when people believe this partnership will work/be amazing just because they are from the same country! that's like saying Kay Odejayi and Fola Onabuje (sp?) are going to set the world alight.

to me, that team looks worthy of winning any game. sadly, Dimwit doesn't like to drop certain people or move them about into, what i feel is, their most effective positions

Teymourian
Anderson

Bogdanovic
Mifsud

Bench : Steele, Van Homoet, Hassell, Devaney, Macken

Tactics

Ball on ground, play it via Colace/Hassell to distribute wide or via Teymourian if Mifsud is the target, leave the two strikers in a central position at all times and not faffing around on the wings. Muller to prefer rolling ball to the backs rather than hoofing it. Boggy to be the main man when it comes to crosses, Mifsud to take charge if ball played through the defence.

Get the ball into the wingers feet and just tell them to run at the full backs as many times as they can. Try and get some good early balls in for the strikers to feed on. If they then mark the wingers out of the game get the ball to Anderson and get him playing some good balls either into Bogdanovic's feet or for Mifsud to run on to. I'd like to see Hassell and Kozluk trying to support the wingers as much as possible and Anderson running into the box to get his head onto some crossed. Colace to just sit all game and provide cover for the back 4. Lastly, get Muller to roll/short kick ouyt to Hassell/Kozluk and build from there without playinbg long balls.

I think it would be more cleverer from a tactical point of view if Carib Owl played in front of TFP, they're natural cover for one another.

Also, I'm ace and will control everything and keep Gaz away from the ball.

muller (wouldnt be adverse to putting stelle in though at the slightest hint of complacency or lack of form from muller)

kozluk
moore
foster
hassel

hammel (LW) hes a left winger and thats that
colace/andranik
anderson
jcr (but id warn him that i expect performance warranting the bids that were made for him, or hed be on bench warming duties)

mifsud
bogdanovich

play ball on the floor, quickly. look down the wings first and then back inside if the wing is not on, give moore the captains armband, and offer him a coaching role aswel in the youths on a part time basis, his expirience will be massively beneficial for the players of the future. and thats all i can be bothered to write for now

You are 100% correct... that is our best team playing as you discribed...would [produce the best results.....Get the message to JCR that he is a good player... but he is a much better player running at fullbacks creating havoc and getting early balls ito the middle......... ANDERSON 15 I propose YOU as bansleys new coach....

Copy your suggestions and email them to Simon....

I'd appoint Supertyke as Marketing Manager/Club Secretary/Webmaster/Academy Director & First Team coach.

Everything else would then fall into place.

Its not the players we need to change its how we play with those players.
There is no need to keep hoofing the ball, just play the simple ball ON THE GROUND, let Mifsud and Boggy slip their markers and play the ball inside between the fullback and central defender, its not rocket science,.
Football is a simple game when played well, its when numpties are allowed to mess about and produce dossiers and ballox , that it becomes difficult.
Play the ball on the floor, dont just chuck it into the box from long throws, pass to feet, not try and kick it over a 6ft 4 defenders head, pass around him and make him twist and turn .
Play the ball wide and with pace. get the wide man from the other side of the pitch to make a run and become an extra striker, giving three players for the defence to worry about,

Just a few simple ideas, that may or may not work, but they would be a damn sight more pleasing to watch and I believe the crowds would be more inspired to show their support.

Just my opinion, Everyone elses are more than welcome

forgot to add that about subs etc.

If the afore mentioned tactics are not working, be prepared to make changes early in the game, be a pro-active manager, rather than a re-active manager. Make the other team change to combat us never try to just hang on and hope for the best, go out and make things happen.

Make the pitch 20 yards wide

Get rid of those useless bits of grass down the sides, just in from the touchlines, where the assistant referees run up and down trying to get a distant view of the game.

We don't use them and don't need them, so why should we let the other team use them to score against us? That's what I would do.
