Good enough for starting 11: Muller Foster Kozluk Da Silva JCR Macken Good squad players Souza Steele Can leave for me Leon Van Homoet Mattis Odejayi Mossto Going going gone.... McCann Christensen Ricketts Werling Johnson Ferenczi Loaners Good: Nyatanga Wallwork Not so good: Knight K. Reid Eckersley Racjzi Jones Tininho Warner Lucas Nardiello
Think you have got it nearly right, but i would think that Leon and the ever improving Van Homoet are decent players and will play a big part next season.
Van Homoet is ever improving and Diego Leon has put in loads of good performances (Watford, Preston). Impressed with who Davey has got in apart from Ricketts and Mostto. Very disappointing that Mattis has been injured all season. Can't wait to see the new signings and new kit
it all boils down to opinions. thats why pillock head davey keeps picking hassell in midfield, his opinion is hes good, but we know his opinion int good.
And out of all those players .................how many ??? How many on the list of Simon Davey signings have been players that have been brought in to build and improve on an already established squad Give yer a clue...........starts with zero................and ends in NONE All the players in that list have been players that have been thrown together, some from all over the world, to patch up a sinking ship. Most signings have been good ones, others have been average. A few have been poor. But all in all it has been a fantastic acheivement for all these players to come together and stay away from relegation Now we have a nucleus of decent players that season after season we can build on to make a squad that eventually will be capable of getting into the top 6 We have Simon Davey and the board of directors to thank for this (clap) (clap) (clap) (clap) (clap) (clap)
Being split into good signings and bad signings only, I'd say.. & note I'd classify a loanee who does his job without standing out as a decent signing, so I'm putting them in as good, and good signings as players that have played their part in improving the squad, I'd say: Good signings/decent loanees. Muller Foster Kozluk Da Silva JCR Macken Souza (the criticism of him is ridiculous, IMO) Steele Leon Van Homoet Werling Ferenczi (we wouldn't be in this league without him) Nyatanga Wallwork Tininho (don't see what he did wrong while he was there - was a decent stopgap signing) Kyel Reid (dont see how he could be classed as a bad signing, scored crucial goals in both games against Southend to keep us up) Rajczi (decent - good few assists) Warner (was only ever going to be a stopgap, got unfair criticism for his Coventry performance and was v.good against WBA at home.) Bad Signings Mattis Mostto Odejayi - and for me thats arguable, important goals scored, but nowhere near enough of them. McCann Christensen Ricketts Johnson Knight Eckersley Jones Warner Nardiello Good signings: 18/30 --- 60% Bad signings: 12/30 --- 40% Considering the majority of signings have been loanees & free transfers, I don't think thats a disaster by any means.
Oh I don't know, I think that Ritchie had an established squad. It was established enough to get us promoted to this league anyway.
RE: Being split into good signings and bad signings only, I'd say.. Dont think i would put Werling in the good column but a decent effort by yourself, take a boo son.
RE: And out of all those players .................how many ??? Well obviously the squad had to be improved on a Division 3 side and i still maintain that Ritchie was treated badly after doing a grand job but putting that aside this squad Davey has put together from all over the world isnt really all you make it up to be. SIX have left or are now leaving, one is back in his home country and one is constantly in the ressies. Thats EIGHT signings from 19 that dont appear to have worked out already! Its arguable about KO, Leon and Van H. Personally im not impressed. One cant score which is his job, one is a fancy player but i cant see him being a regular in this league and the other at best is a reserve to Hassell and Kozluk for the right back spot. That makes ELEVEN for me that have been poor or average at best signings. Dont get me wrong players like De Silva and Muller when they are fit should improve the squad we finsihed with and Foster and JCR and Macken have been great this season. Add to this several squad players he has brought in and we have a team but we are far from having a squad! Fingers crossed we can find some quality like Macken up front, Foster in defence and Howard (best player we have -not signed by Davey) in midfield and things might be looking up
Apologies Lucas is supposed to be in the bad column, not Warner. Knew I'd missed him out somewhere. As for Dragon Tyke, if its aimed at me, I'm perfectly happy for you to have that opinion of me - I certainly have my opinions of a lot of people on here, I just keep them to myself because in the long term, we all want the same thing and thats success for Barnsley. Well, most of us too - half the time its difficult to tell whether you do or not.
Ritchie's squad was never a "squad". We had Neil Austin regularly starting games. He now plays for Darlington. Nick Colgan regularly starting in goal - who is now 3rd choice at Ipswich. In midfield we had Devaney, Togwell, Howard. McIndoe had gone, and I can't even remember who the other midfielder was before Davey took over. Upfront we had Marc Richards (relegated from League 1 with Port Vale), Paul Hayes (relegated with Scnuthorpe), Tommy Wright (nowhere near good enough) and Nardiello (who Davey is now being criticised for signing on loan.) Ritchie produced a minor miracle getting us promoted, but he was too loyal to those players once we came up. We have a bit more of a squad now than we had then, and hopefully by the end of this summer we'll have a squad more than capable of competing, and being competitive in terms of competition for places. We have that in certain places (goalkeeper, full back) but we need it in other areas, particularly down the spine of the team.
hehe, you believe everything you're told right? Ritchie was offered the millions that Davey has spent yet he turned it down. He had a company car his former club but never used it. Wallwork was signed by Davey. Kay was the only player to drink during the season. Ritchie got us promoted through sheer luck while Davey playing Williams in midfield to keep us up was a stroke of genius.
Its opinions BUT...................its also YES YES YES.........facts !!! Have we a far far better team and a better squad than 18 months ago.......................................YES Have we safeguarded our position in the Championship league..................................................YES In the mean time did we go to Wembley in the semi final of the FA Cup......................................YES Did we achieve this success on a shoe string budget compared to other Championship clubs.........YES These are facts not opinions And we still have people moaning about Simon Davey (dunno) FFS.............WHY ???? !!!!!!!!!
