has taken some flak as an England player but you have got to take your hat off to him. He loves England and wears the shirt with pride. He has come form the other side of the world to play, has to fly back for the weekend, and plays with an injury. All for a friendly. Steven Gerrard, on the other hand, plays for Liverpool on Sunday with no hint of an injury, declares himself unfit for the England game and openly states that he will be fit for the following weekend.</p>

    Gerrard (wnkr)

Rarely has he put in a performance for England at any rate.

    David Beckham = Icon

Great guy and deserves to reach 100 caps. Even not fully fit he was one of the best players out there tonight. Shame some of the others pulling out "injured" that will be back at the weekend don't take a leaf out of the Beckham book. Loves what he's doing no matter how far he's to travel.

Nothing to do with wanting to reach 100 caps then? If he's unfit, he shouldn't have played. Which he didn't. Much like everyone apart from Richards and Cole. And maybe Lampard. For ten minutes.

You missed a good laugh mate. We made a patchwork German side look like world beaters. We're stuffed.

    couple of decent crosses and

a load of poor ones, his % of good to bad crosses was fairly poor, too many people ready to kiss his ass, but i suppose with all the supposed injuries McLaren had little option other to play him, he was obviously not fit

We were stuffed the day some people in this country started to say that some of these players were 'world class'.

World class are players of maradona and pele's ilk.

Inconclusive. There were other factors that might have affected the results, such as kebabs, so it looks like I might have to start from scratch the next time I get a research grant. From the cashpoint.

He was terrible. Good ball to Dyer, decent freekick that Smith flicked on, and that was it. Should have started with Wright Phillips. At least he looked like doing something when he came on. Down the left. Obviously.

Hear f**king hear. Said the same thing myself mate. Hoddle wasn't regarded as 'world class' but he could do everything Beckham can, with both feet, and more consistently. He could also beat players and had better vision. Standards must have plummeted.

    He shouldnt have played

Not fit so why he played 90 mins of a friendly is a mystery

    Richards played really Well
    Cole and Carrick were OK
    James didnt make any mistakes
We were so bad even SWP looked relatively good when he came on

    other than that everyone underperformed.
Owen missed two sitters - needs match fitness in the next 3 weeks or shouldnt start
Dyer missed a sitter even I could have scored
    Lampard missed 2 golden chances

so the scoreline could have been more flattering than we deserved

Some excellent route 1 football hoof it up for Crouch and hope - quality

To be fair to Gerrard he was injured before the Chelsea game

He had to take a pain killing injection in his ankle before the game -I do agree though he doesn't perform for England

That's the 6'7" guy who manages to jump to a height of 6'3"? Yeah, the reasoning for that tactic escapes me too.
