Tottenham keeper David Button is joining Championship new boys Charlton in a £500,000 swoop - and picking up a chunky pay-rise. Button is saying goodbye to Spurs after seven years on the books but only EIGHT minutes of first-team action for the club. Now 23, Button's time in the sun came when he replaced Carlo Cudicini late on in a League Cup win at Doncaster in August 2009. During his time as a Tottenham player, he has been loaned out a staggering 13 occasions. He has had two spells each at Crewe and non-League Grays, as well as stints at Rochdale, Bournemouth, Luton, Dagenham & Redbridge, Shrewsbury, Plymouth, Leyton Orient, Doncaster and Barnsley, making a total of 109 appearances. Charlton boss Chris Powell is paying half of the fee up front and his contract offer is much more than Button is on at Tottenham. Were you among the 12,000-odd who saw Button's one and only match for Spurs' first team that night in Doncaster? Get in touch at @mirrorfootball and tell us all about it.
I'm just about to book my tickets for Charlton, hope if he does sign he gets a good reception from the reds fans.
Give you your due, LDRed. You deserve a medal ther size of a dustbin lid travelling from Hamilton to Charlton, especially after what happened on Saturday.
I missed Saturday, but always enjoy a day out at The Valley. The Charlton fans are always very friendly and welcoming. £40 return for a night bus either way so it's a pretty stress-free journey, it's the 90 minutes inbetween that causes problems
All too often it's the bit between 3 & 5p.m that ruins the day. We're getting the early train from Donny. Like Funnyfella said, It'll be a good day whatever.
I'll be in contact nearer the time for a drinking establishment of choice near the ground! I think last time it was the Antigallican or something like that.
