I think Steele would have saved all four despite Cotterill putting the keeper in bother twice (once with the bad backpass and the other being outpaced).... Goal 1 he should have commanded his six yard area. Keepers should never ever conceed from a yard out. Goal 2 was nicely placed but his view wasn't blocked and it wasn't hit at pace. Steele would have got his body behind it. Goal 3 he thought he was Lionel Messi instead of clearing his lines. Goal 4 he saved right into the path of Vaz Te. Playing for first school at football our keeper was taught even then that when you save a shot make sure you get the ball out wide to make the angle harder. You don't parry it straight forward.
Goal 1 - he should have come for it, but the defence were at fault for not getting a header in Goal 2 - I agree, he should have saved it, but why did wasn't Maynard closed down? Goal 3 - should have put it into Grove Street. Bad decision Goal 4 - stretching for the ball. Really couldn't have done more with it.
Add to that - the ball came off Nolan and was never a corner and Cotterill was fouled prior to the third. On balance we should have come away with a creditable 0-0 draw. Come on you Reds!
goal 1 craig davis you left your man, rank bad defending goal 2 at first i thought he should have saved, but after seeing replys very good finish/shocking defending goal 3 2 bad decisions but should have put into touch goal 4 great strike dont think steele would have got there, good save, dont forget before you blame the keeper, there are 10 other players on the pitch.who obviously didnt/couldnt be bothered doing there job.
Agree with first 3 , but to say that Steele would not have got to it is ridiculous!, Steele is one of the best shot stoppers in the country. I dont think that Buttons did anything wrong really with that goal either.
hi madmark if luke was playing it would probably have resulted in a goal aswell. it was a good save though
I agree , it was a good stop and I dont think there was much more he could have done with it. I reckon it would have been a goal if Steele was in the goals too, same result and I think he would have made the same save too. I do think Button should have done better with the second goal really, good finish but he never got close to it and he should have. Bad defending from midfield then defenders.
