Why isn't he featuring? Admittedly, I've not seen much of him since he left Sheffield United, way back when, but I was of the opinion that he was a talented player who could unlock defences and chip in with the odd goal. Keith Hill obviously thought highly enough of him to bring him in until the end of the season, but he's hardly featured. I saw him against Birmingham, where I thought he did well before tiring, but not really seen much of him since. Is he not fit? Not good enough? Not adapting to Hill's plans? Seems strange that he's been brought in, yet appears to be a mere benchwarmer.
I don't buy that for a second. He's a professional footballer. Whether he's playing or not, he should be keeping himself trim, fit and ready. On the flipside, if he is a little rusty, sitting on the bench isn't going to do anything for him whatsoever. Again, begs the question - why was he brought in?
I work with a couple of united fans and they tell me that if he fancies it hes great but otherwise he can go missing. To me sounds a little bit like Vaz Te and when he first came he only made the odd substitute appearance. Maybe Keith is getting his attitude right before playing him regularly.
Same with Tonge. Whats the point in short term signings if they're not fit enough and wont be fit enough for a long time.
Maybe he is really building for next season and doesnt want to get them playing well this year and have them clear off in the summer
Thats what somebody said in the pub before the game on Saturday. I think there could be some truth in it but its a risky strategy.
I think whats being suggested is keep them under the radar this season and hopefully pick them up for peanuts without alerting other clubs in the summer. Like I said a risky strategy.
Tonge is under contract at Stoke until 2013, and, he's made of glass. He was worth a look at, but he wouldnt be on my shopping list. As for Cotts, I am baffled as to why he isnt featuring much. We plonk Davies wide, and now bl00dy Frank Bruno
Yep I`ve said missen Tonge glassback dunt want to get stuck in, probably spend more time in physio room than on the pitch. Cotterill is a no brainer and I seem to be missing summat. Smith I thought we had summat theer but not to be. Still all 3 got time to shine but I wouldn`t sign em YT. Dont think we have a good percentage of successful loans.
Yes was on about there performances up to just and meaning even if available I wouldn`t sign him. But your right, not though it matters like because we couldn`t if we wanted to.
The only person blaming Cotts for that goal was KK. He was hardly likely to blame "he's my right back" Scott Wiseman, who SHOULD have been on the post but was puffing his cheeks out in the D of our own box...
