Appointed as Director of Football at Port Vale Football Club. https://the72.co.uk/220509/port-vale-appoint-new-director-of-football/
'Flitcroft, who is 47 years old, has made the move to Vale Park to help interim manager Danny Pugh and help the process of finding a new permanent boss'. "Hey up Danny there's this bloke called Dave Flitcroft who's interested in the job, btw your P45 is in the post."
Nice bloke David flitcroft, really enjoyed his great escape season. I didn't enjoy his time after that but I have nothing against the him and wish him all the best.
Rather naively thought the same group of players who kept us up one year, could kick on the year after and challenge the top half. That particular squad was over achieving by surviving in the championship, if we're being honest. Whether the budget wasn't there the year after, I'm not sure.
Like I said I enjoyed his great escape against all the odds we looked to be doomed when he took over. Probley abit naive to try keep us up again with the same group. Could tell it was going to be a long season when wigan hammered us 4 nil at oakwell 1st game.
Oh right thought you were referring to a ex barnsley manager.... ill give it a watch if I see it on the box
I did too! Honestly I thought he was our best manager for a while, and maybe with a bit better backing, could have got us moving in the right direction.
Who could forgot the scenes after the Huddersfield 2-2 draw in 2013, to cap off a brilliant great escape. Thanks for the memories David
