Typical modern day central midfielder. Very little talent, no pace, doesn't have a tackle in him, doesn't drive forward with the ball and will contribute nothing to the goals for column. Can't see why we need him when we already have Perkins for that role.
but unlike Perkins he has a decent first touch, doesn't need to spin round in circles before deciding to pass it backwards, can 8 times out of 10 pick a pass even if they're 25+ yards away, doesn't always go backwards to the goalkeeper.
David Fox or Stephen Dawson? I rest my case. I think Fox has added a solidity to the team shape, we don't seem to get pulled about as much and its let Perkins play more in my opinion. He doesn't pull up any trees, but he's solid as a rock.
I have never been a fan of Perkins but he's getting worse by the week. Yet still plays every minute of every game.
I'm undecided on Fox as yet. Doing a solid enough job and does add a bit of quality on the ball. This also allows Perks to play a bit too. He's not pulling up any trees though. I think a bit more game time might see him make a step up.
Aye, he'd not played at all for much of the last 12 months. He's still getting up to speed. As is Paddy. And Peds. We'll get better as the season goes on. I'm sure of it.
Held back from showing what he can do in the same way that Dawson was this season and Etuhu? There's a common denominator here folks.
I'm not sure what he adds to the team, to be honest. I'd prefer Etuhu to be playing. Maybe he'll improve. Struggled to understand why Flitcroft raved about him post-match yesterday too as I thought he'd been mediocre.
Think if Perkins just played forward thinking passes, he would be a better player, but too often he slows our attacks down and passes sidewards, he is a good midfielder though and does a lot of donkey work in midfield
Can't say I really notice him in games. So I guess he doesn't do anything spectaular, but also makes very few mistakes.
Fox and Perkins, unspectacular but solidly reliable. Just what you want from the midfield engine room.
I really rate him, we look a lot more solid with him in there. He can put a good corner in too - something we've been missing over recent years
You can see why Norwich let him go on loan, certainly not a Premier League midfielder but seems solid enough for the Championship, and he's a lot more composed than Dawson.
Put some fantastic passes in yesterday, one through ball particularly was outstanding. Not spectacular but does an efficient job and retains possession.
